Violette Trains

The booking process was easy and the train trip was great. We had a VIP sleeper and found the bed extremely comfortable. We had one of the best sleeps we’ve had in Vietnam. Our only issue was minor. The brochure mentioned free wifi but we couldn’t find any information on where to find the password. I sent a message to the WhatsApp hotline but received no response.

It’s such a scenic train ride. The view at the end was amazing (Hue to Da Nang). The cabin size and cleanliness was perfect. We had water and a few snacks on board. Plus the possibility to order some fresh food. The bed was comfy. The air conditioning was extreme. Bring extra clothes and a scarf with you. The train was moving slow. The ride was quite bulky. The train’s axles were making very loud cracking noises, so I couldn’t sleep very well. My partner, however, had earplugs and slept like a baby. The train workers were super friendly.

Cabin was in the last carriage. Not very clean. Tow nails on the floor. Dried in syrup on wall. Toilet in the carriage was so dirty and people kept going in there to smoke. Beds rock hard and uncomfortable. We paid £60/bed which is extortionate for what you get.

Overnight train from Ninh Binh to DaNang, purchased tickets in advance. Recommend as a good addition on a travel plan. Snack boxes and drinks provided on journey, lots of up selling.

Warm, and moist trainride. Super loud speakers to tell u about the landscape 06 in the morning.

Great cabin, clean and cozy. The staff were wonderful and service exillent.

Afsterven booking and paying I was told I t takes 2 hours to confirm the trip. After mailing 3 times in the end all went right. But, better to inform your customer right at his questions instead of sending a general answer.

Nice and clean cabin and soft beds

We got hassled by staff trying to get us to pay extra to buy the spare bunks our cabin. We were not welcomed in any way or given information as I’d expected. Really stressful experience.

Clean and tidy room with lovely snack pack and drinks. Train stock is a little old now and it tells when your night is a little noisier than expected. Al part of train travel in Vietnam. I say that but our kids said they had their best nights sleep of the trip. Everyone is different.

Was pleasantly surprised. Very clean and tidy cabin. Nice range of snacks. Beds very hard and uncomfortable though.

Easy and smooth

I saw some mixed reviews but our experience was quite good. Everything went smoothly and we were able to board without problems. The cabin was comfortable and we were provided with some drinks and snacks. The views were also wonderful.

We purchased the tickets a few weeks ahead and we emailed our tickets.. When we got onboard it was a 4 person cabin although we were booked for a 2 person berth.. Then another 2 turned up for the same beds.. When they checked (and I checked the app) the cabin and seats had changed. 12go never bothered email the updated tickets and changes in the train coach and cabin no

We were switched to a different car upon arrival for no reason. We arrived at another one where the conductor told us there would be three of us and that the fourth berth would be empty. But at the first stop, someone got in. The air conditioning smelled of cigarettes the entire time. In short, a very bad experience.

Better than expected. Food was included and beer and peanuts. Awesome.

Great experience in VIP room on sleeper train. A few snacks and drinks provided. Toilets and wash basins clean throughout. Quite loud and bumpy. Partner slept brilliantly although I only got a few hours. Still, highly recommend for the experience and ease of travel.

Most enjoyable sleeper train ride including US and Europe. Slept well overnight and enjoyed the beautiful scenics from Dong Hoi to DaNang. Also enjoyed free refreshments and pay for use food offerings. There was plenty of filtered water both hot and cool. Toilet facilities were acceptable, and sinks were in good condition with plenty hand soap and sufficient dryers. Highly recommend!

A little noisy but due to train which could get difficult to solve. Bed are pretty hard, two pillows per bed could be nice. Overall a good experience to live.

No usb c charging ports, 1 toilet per wagon. Not worth the price tag!

We booked a 2 person cabin and ended up getting a 4 person cabin, which would have cost us more than 50% less. Not recommended!

Worth it for the experience, would I repeat the journey, probably not but then again neither would I not if it was the only option

Apart from the warm beer and horrendous coffee the toilets were very clean , though out the trip.The bedding was comfortable and a very good journey overall. Slept well Good fun

It was a good train ride but we were disappointed that we didn't get the cabin that we had booked and paid for and expected to have.We booked a 'VIP' 2-berth cabin, but we ended up with a 4-berth cabin (and obviously paid the price for 4 berths). Therefore, our cabin was not as comfortable as it should have been, as we weren't able to have proper upright seating. We would be more careful next time to make sure we got what we paid for, if we book anything again.

The booking experience was fine. The receipt email says I’d receive confirmation in about an hour. What they meant to say was 3 days. It took 3 days to receive booking confirmation. I sent two emails asking about it and receive two identical canned replies telling me not to worry and to check my receipt for a timeframe for booking, which was 1 hour. They must get a lot of these emails a lot and are far to busy to read them and actually reply. It’s clearly a broken system. The train itself was on time and comfortable enough considering the price. The one thing we didn’t like was the staff coming around selling food. We kept our door closed and they would always attempt to open it. Every single time. Thankfully we locked it, but where on earth is it ok to just open a closed door to a private cabin? With all of this in mind, now that I know what to expect, I would do this all again if I were in Vietnam.

It was all fine. We had chosen Violette trains because there were no more standard VNR options with lower beds in a 4 bed cabin. I had expected more of a difference between standard VNR and violett trains. It was basically a bigger blanket and a snackbox you get for the extra money. However, the experience was ok

A nice comfortable ride although the beds/madrasses were a bit hard

Great trip but you have to be aware that the rails and the wagons are old, so a bit bumpy and noisy, but I slept well.

Was helemaal super.

The door was broken and the lock didn’t work. I was bitten by fleas all over my left side of the body from head to toe. No Internet Air conditioning sometimes very cold sometimes very hot Very very expensive

Very good and comfortabel experience

The train left 20 minutes earlier so we just made it. The times on the internet and in the confirmation email are different than the one in the pdf. Just double check it! The beds were comfy, we slept well, got some food as well. Only the toilets were not very clean. The train couldnt go to da nang but the transport with the buses were organized and fast!

On time train got us to our destination without incident. The rooms were already made up by the time we got there, along with a personal pizza and snacks. I was not expecting the little touches they added in for comfort. The cabin was warm enough for the cold night and the comforter and bed were perfect. We did hear commotion in the evening but didn’t open our door to check. When we heard the same commotion in the morning, we opened the door to find a mobile store coming through with snacks and drinks for sale. We had the best experience- I recommend for sure.

Great service for price

The train was exactly as advertised, four bunks in one room. Train arrived in Ninh Binh on time but was late to Da Nang. But, the beds are so hard, I mean like boards.

Very clean and comfortable ride We actually slept reasonably well. Snacks were provided. Train wss 2 hours later then expected. The train assistant tried to charge us 500'000 fong for a private room upgrade ( used Google translate) but we said no and had our cabin to ourselves anyway so that was a scam.
