Hoi An to Hue Destination Reviews

RL
They give little information, nor do they speak english which makes it an adventure. The trip itself was ok (Hoi an -> Hue - 3h30). The busdriver rides like all other vietnamese, alot of honking and some aggresive riding. For us this trip was ok, but i can imagine if you do a 8h long trip it will be doficult to actually get some rest.

Driver was irritable and not friendly, piss poor customer service. I was one of the first people being dropped off they buried my suitcase and I had to dig it out from all the other luggage myself once I was dropped off at my destination.

It’s one of the buses where the sleeping seats are super narrow, so you shouldn’t be a big person choosing this bus. And as usual with almost all the sleeping buses: the employees inside the bus are the loudest people in the bus. Luckily I only booked the bus during the day for a three hour ride and it was on time, but for a night ride it’s probably pretty annoying with employees lying next to you on the seat and having loud phone calls. Service was also pretty poor, they didn’t even put our luggage under the bus .

The bus didn’t stop at the drop off that was indicated in the confirmation ticket. We had to walk 20 min to arrive at the drop off. The bus driver told us he « couldn’t go into the city ». Why put a location for the drop off if it’s not where we stop?!!

Used the service from Hoi An to Hue. We booked a limousine 9 vehicle, however, it was completely filled and friend and I were rammed in the front seat. Luggage was squished in between everyone. Told to arrive early to check in, completely unnecessary. We were then taken by car with other people to Da Nang to get dropped off which was never stated. Other arrangements would have been made if we knew what this trip was going to be like. Lack of communication too.

You will arrive to your destination more or less in time. Yet you cannot sleep well as the driver wakes you up at every stop. A taxi is waiting for you at the arrival to scam you, be warry

Is it safe to go Hue?

Hue is generally safe for travelers, with a low crime rate. However, like in any city, it is wise to stay alert to your surroundings and keep an eye on personal belongings, especially in crowded areas. Traffic can be chaotic, so exercise caution when crossing streets. Use reputable transportation options like taxis or ride-sharing services.

Tap water in Hue is not recommended for drinking. Opt for bottled water, which is widely available. For health safety, ensure food is cooked thoroughly, especially from street vendors.

The city is rich in historical sites, such as the Imperial City and royal tombs, which are worth visiting. For a local experience, try the traditional dishes like bun bo Hue and explore the vibrant Dong Ba Market. The city is generally accessible by bus or taxi, with fares typically ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 VND ($2 to $6).

Does Hoi An or Hue get more tourists?

Hoi An typically attracts more tourists compared to Hue. Known for its well-preserved Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hoi An offers a blend of historic architecture and vibrant markets that draw significant visitor numbers. Its lantern-lit streets and proximity to beaches also contribute to its popularity.

In contrast, Hue, though historically significant with its Imperial City and royal tombs, generally receives fewer visitors. Hoi An's tourist-friendly amenities, such as numerous cafes, restaurants, and tailor shops, make it a more frequented destination.

Both cities have their unique attractions, but Hoi An's compact, walkable layout and diverse offerings often lead to higher tourist footfall.
