Heidi SWOULD GIVE 0 STARS. We booked via 12GO Asia the 1.30pm bus from HCMC to Phnom Penh. When we arrived they said “no bus only 4pm”. No explanation, no apology, just that there isn’t a bus at 1.30, only at 4pm. We obviously were very annoyed at this as this had messed up our plans drastically. We were told that we could then get on another bus with another company at 3.30pm, and that everything had been arranged and they have paid the new bus company and we just need to go there and get on the bus. It was a 10 minute walk away with all our luggage in very hot weather, not ideal. We got to the other company and they said we had to pay extra (even though we were told by the original bus company that they had sorted out payment already). Everyone in the office was trying to scam us out of money left right and centre, one lady even asked for money to take us on her motorbike to the original bus company, when we were told to come here! We got so fed up as no one was listening or helping us, so we went back to the original company and told them what happened, we were given the lady in the shop’s boss’s number, and was speaking to him via WhatsApp. He said that someone will pick us up in 15 minutes and will take us personally to the new 3.30pm bus company (even though we had just been there.) We were waiting and waiting, and after about 40 mins (every 5/10 minutes we would be asking where the driver was) we were told that his boss has said we can’t get on the 3.30pm bus with the other company, we can only get on the 4pm bus with the original company. Once again, we were very frustrated as clearly a driver had never been sent for us, so we were getting lied to and had been waiting for ages, for nothing! We still wanted to get to Cambodia that day and was prepared to go via a totally different bus company, but the longer we were left being told to wait, the busses from other companies kept being removed from 12GO Asia as it was too close to the bus departure time, again, very frustrating. We were still in contact with the man via WhatsApp who was the only person even slightly trying to help, no one in the shop was helping us at all. We were still being told to wait, and things were changing every sentence as to what was happening. Eventually, the lady in the shop came up to us and via Google translate said “we have a bus now for you would you be interested?” We said yes. Nothing happened and she went and sat down, we assumed we were waiting for the bus. At this point the man via WhatsApp was also saying we could get on the 4pm bus, and the time was around 3:45pm at this point, so we assumed that we had a seat on the 4pm bus, not ideal, but the best result from an awful experience.
It gets to about 4.05pm and no one has said anything to us. I go up to the counter and ask the lady where the bus is. She replies “what bus?”. At this point we had been in the shop 3 hours, had been to two different bus shops and was very fed up. I said, “the bus you just told us we can get on, the 4pm bus” she shook her head and laughed, as she did to most things we said to her. Another guy who was in the shop, no idea who he was or if he even worked for the bus company, asked us what happened and what bus we meant, we explained to him what had happened and he asked to see our ticket. He said that Kumho Samco was not this lady, even though she had said MULTIPLE times that we were in the right place for this bus company, and our ticket is correct. He said that the man we have been contacting via WhatsApp was Kumho Samco, not this lady. Even though she said that he was her boss! At this point I got very annoyed as we had been waiting in a shop 3.5hrs, being told that it is Kumho Samco bus company, promised a 4pm bus even though we should have been on the 1.30pm bus and getting lied to left right and centre. We were then told we could get on the 4pm bus (even though it was 4.15pm by this point) but we had to pay this company, and contact Kumho Samco about a refund, however the man we was speaking to on WhatsApp had turned off his phone and no calls or texts were going through, so no chance was we getting a refund from them, and we was unsure if 12GO would issue a refund (still haven’t heard anything from them). We had had enough and said no it’s okay, we’ve lost all trust in everyone here and no one has apologised, helped us or explained what is happening. No one wanted to take responsibility and everyone was lying to our faces! The worst bus company I have ever experienced, and probably my worst day travelling South East Asia! A horrible experience with horrible people. We booked a hotel in HCMC and stayed the night again as by this point we couldn’t book any other busses to go to Cambodia that evening. The next day we went to Cambodia via Capitol busses and it was a smooth, fabulous experience. Do NOT use Kumho Samco busses or Danh Danh busses (the other bus company we were told to go to).

Jannette Our first ride on the way to HCMC was smooth, but the travel back was stressful. The coordinator in the bus apparentlg was informing us about the heightened security for PH passport holders at the cambodian border but approached us in a way that he was certain we will not be able to enter, which caused unnecessary concern among us and the other passengers. He was deciding for himself instead of letting the immigration handle it and overstepping his job. We kept on telling him we had already travelled through the border and he did not have to worry, but it seemed he was getting ahead of himself and kept on telling us we will not be able to pass. He also accused my mom of overstaying when we had just told him that stamp was from last month’s vacation. We explained that we took an e-gate so we didn’t get any stamp at the airport, but rather the stamp he saw in my mom’s passport was valid from her vacation last month as she took the same bus back and forth Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh. But it seems he’s not aware about e-gates because even after that, he never listened and kept on telling us we were invalid. Never in our life have we overstayed in any country! We weren’t only stressed out about the whole thing but also shamed in the process because of his accusations. In the end, we were able to get through just fine with no problem and even went back to the bus earlier than the other passengers. We appreciate his concern for us, but honestly, he should stick to just doing his job and stop worrying about the decisions he’s not in charge of making. 🙂

Jonalie GIf you are unorganised this is a good choice. You do pay more for the Cambodia visa $40 instead of $30. But we went tho right so fast, and no extra bribes… they take you thought the VIP counter. You can make it cheaper by having the evisa already. But if you are last minute like us. This is great and stress free. And the bus seats very comfortable

Joanne KPrice is very good, under $70 for return trip for two ho chi minh phnom penh but bus was very tired and trip took 9 hours, not the scheduled 7. No individual device charging, only an outlet behind the driver and our booked seats were changed to seat us together when we had specifically chosen single seats for window access. Would prob pay more next time for giant ibis equivalent experience.

Lucy CBus was comfy and on time. I literally gave the driver my passsport and $40 on the bus and I didn’t have to do anything else for my visa. Arrival cars filled out for me too other than email and address in Cambodia. Lovely driver and attendee too!! Think we 3 stops and all decent ones,
