Aubrey SThere was poor communication from the company from the beginning. I did not receive any messages or email from them. You would expect a company that does border passings to send you information regarding what to bring, what the process will be like, etc. Luckily I had done my research and got cash out for the visa. However, the person running the bus made me pay him 1,250,000 VND for the visa, however the visa is $30 USD (787,000 VND). Even with the “exchange rate” he was claiming, it should not have been more than 1,000,000 VND. There was also very poor communication of what was happening (like taking my passport and not giving it back - I had no idea that would happen or if it was supposed to happen), where we were when we stopped, how long we would be there, etc. I recognize that English is not their native language, however, I (and the other English speakers) would have appreciated some sort of information via Google Translate, which other companies always provide, especially when doing something like going to a new country. Overall, it was a very hectic experience and very poor communication from beginning to end.

Elsa EIt was literally just me on the bus (he said it was the first time that had happened) so the guy who spoke english literally did all of the immigration and visa things for me so I could just walk through. They all exchanged dong to usd for me at a good exchange rate, and gave me water and a pastry. We ended up arriving over an hour early, I assume because it was just me so no queues for immigration.

Jannette Our first ride on the way to HCMC was smooth, but the travel back was stressful. The coordinator in the bus apparentlg was informing us about the heightened security for PH passport holders at the cambodian border but approached us in a way that he was certain we will not be able to enter, which caused unnecessary concern among us and the other passengers. He was deciding for himself instead of letting the immigration handle it and overstepping his job. We kept on telling him we had already travelled through the border and he did not have to worry, but it seemed he was getting ahead of himself and kept on telling us we will not be able to pass. He also accused my mom of overstaying when we had just told him that stamp was from last month’s vacation. We explained that we took an e-gate so we didn’t get any stamp at the airport, but rather the stamp he saw in my mom’s passport was valid from her vacation last month as she took the same bus back and forth Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh. But it seems he’s not aware about e-gates because even after that, he never listened and kept on telling us we were invalid. Never in our life have we overstayed in any country! We weren’t only stressed out about the whole thing but also shamed in the process because of his accusations. In the end, we were able to get through just fine with no problem and even went back to the bus earlier than the other passengers. We appreciate his concern for us, but honestly, he should stick to just doing his job and stop worrying about the decisions he’s not in charge of making. 🙂
