Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City Destination Reviews

EW
Boarding and check in was very smooth, and seats were comfortable. Border crossing was also straightforward. However, driver was honking his horn loudly the entire journey and driving like a maniac. He also kept stopping for random breaks but wouldn’t say anything. We also arrived nearly an hour late but I understand Ho Chi Minh traffic is no joke. Drop off address is to HCMC is actually Saigon bus terminal so this needs to be changed on ticket voucher.

The minivan was on time. The border crossing was well organised and easy. My friend and I were sitting next to the driver. He was incredibly kind, shared his food with us and made the ride the best one we have had on our entire trip.

We were very poorly received, not a smile, not a word, not an explanation in English. At each stop it was stressful, we didn't know if it was a break, how long or if we had to change buses. They spoke to us in Vietnamese and we got yelled at because we didn't understand. I do not recommend this company at all for tourists!

Giant Ibis has premium and excellent service from the drivers, staff and headquarters. Would really recommend for a good travelling experience. Buses are clean with comfortable seats, charging ports (USB and ports) free snacks and bottled water, stops have clean bathrooms and good food. We were guided every time and informed about the itinerary and what to expect.

Poor communication at the border crossing to Western travellers. Passport control at Cambodian border was clear, each individual was processed at the immigration window. At Vietnam entry, Passports were collected and then handed back. Two of us lined up at the immigration window for processing, which took some time because people were pushing in. When we finally got through, the bus had already left us.

A trustworthy company with a very kind and attentive staff. Due to an error from the Vietnamese government, my visa was issued with an incomplete full name. I didn’t notice, and when I arrived at the border, I wasn’t allowed to enter. I had to get a new visa on the spot, unintentionally contributing to the shady emergency visa business. The staff not only assisted and reassured me, but they also made sure I could catch the next bus to my destination without any extra charges, showing real empathy for the situation. A special thanks to Vannk, a true light, who followed up on my case until I managed to get on the last bus. Thank you for making a moment of frustration and anger a little more bearable.

Workers were rude and shouted at us because we couldn’t understand them. There was also no toilets on the bus and the workers got annoyed when we wanted to stop for the toilet, rushing us back onto the bus.
