It was a great experience. The only hitch was our door didn't lock but when we told the train guy he (had a translator app and) told us he would keep a close eye on us and not to worry so we felt happy and reassured.

Very expensive, for a dirty and uncomfortable compartment! The vip part was a bag with a banana a pack of chips and 2 drinks in it. People just randomly openend my door and at the point where the old lady next to me peed in a bucket I questioned why I paid 71€ for this trip. The beds were also really hard and I could hear the person in the room next to me clip their toenails so I could not really sleep.

I awoke around 5am to find my legs covered in insect bites and itching, having spent the day in a couple of bars with a friend, not being near vegetation, and wearing chinos and socks all day I can only ascertain this came from the train. The bites are severe and have had to seek advice from a pharmacist to aid recovery but my legs looks a mess, 24 bites in all only on lower leg. I expected to have more of a food service offered in cabin or guidance to a buffet car, only a bag of potato chips, small waffle, soft banana, water and Coca Cola was left at the start of the journey so nothing else to eat from 20:50 Thursday to 15:00 Friday when I checked in to my hotel. I have pictures of the damage the bites have done should you wish to view

PS
We booked for 2 people in a 4 beds cabin, and got upgraded in a deluxe private cabin. The journey was comfortable, the scenery wonderful. It was a bit hard to sleep because of the train moving a lot and making some noise, but that was expected. The 16hours ride felt shorter than we thought. The train left and arrived ~15minutes late but that wasnt a problem. Would book it again!

The only thing missing from this experience is a better meal. Breakfast did not live up to expectations for a VIP/Luxury Cabin.

The train was fine and we like the trip. I rate 4, not 5, only because a system of a getting tickets at the railway station was unclear. It would be great for future to get more corrective instructions.

Unlike buses or taxis which have numerous companies offering their services, train service is usually offered by just one major company in each country. As railway service requires a large amount of infrastructure, most railway companies are government-owned and are a part of the national transport system.

One of the best advantages of travelling by train is that railway stations are often conveniently located within or very near major cities and urban areas. Immediately on arrival to their destination, travellers find themselves in close proximity to important facilities like hotels, supermarkets, and hospitals.

If you travel with a lot of bags and luggage, trains are your best option. Luggage weight limits on trains are rather flexible and allow you to carry multiple bags with you.

Special or luxury trains feature sufficient legroom which allows you to stretch your legs and relax. In comfort and space these train seats can be compared to business class airplane seats.

Similar to buses, trains can provide a variety of amenities to make your travel more comfortable and enjoyable. Modern trains have WIFI service, a snack counter and a drinking bar. Onboard toilets can be a life saver for travellers with queasy stomachs.

Lastly, unlike buses and other overland means of transport, trains are very rarely involved in accidents.
