My wife and I booked 2A sleeper class from New Delhi (NDLS) to Mumbai (MMCT) on the highly recommended Rajdhani express train #12952. Our first time in India, we were pretty inexperienced Indian train travel, though we had read up on the online trip advisories on what to expect. We were happy with the trip. It was a bit chaotic in the stations, but my wife said it was not nearly as crazy as Grand Central station in New York. People were helpful in directing us to our sleeper car. Sleeping cots were adequate with clean bedding, though privacy was just curtains at each cot, with other passengers (non tourists) in close proximity. The train was not spotless, but it was adequately clean for us. Bedding was fresh, in packages, floors were mopped and sterilized, and onboard staff was friendly and helpful. Toilets were adequately clean. Certainly not to standards in the USA, but better than many developing countries. The train was on time and ran smooth. The AC was adequate. We enjoyed the experience mingling with the local travelers, all who were nice. Bring earplugs to get a better sleep (there was low key chatter and some crying babies at night) and bring your own toilet paper (the restrooms sometimes run out). Meals were tasty. A great experience, though we might try 1st class AC next time to see if there is more privacy. I would rate the experience as great, though we had expected the accommodations to be newer.
