Da Nang to Hanoi Destination Reviews

E
Overall, it was acceptable for a one-night stay, but the noise level was quite high. Hygiene, however, left a lot to be desired. The cleanliness of the toilets was inconsistent—you had to be lucky to find one in a usable state. As for the food, the light breakfast provided was just enough per person, consisting of some fruit, bread, milk, and similar basics.

There was a problem with our booking. Our tickets and berth reservation were for different dates. This was resolved after a phone call by rail station staff.

The VIP 2 berth cabin was great - very private and comfortable for a long journey. Much better than flying and more comfy than an overnight bus!

The train, outside occupants, and conductor were very loud and noisey. The mattress was very hard and extremely uncomfortable.

Well lets start with the misleading information and pictures when booking online. There needs to be a better distinction between 1st class and VIP. I genuinely believed that I had booked a two person cabin, but in actual fact had selected two seats in a four bed cabin. The beds were too hard and the top bunks difficult to access for people over 45 years old. The food offered on the train didn't cater to Western tastes. The staff serving the food didn't know English and couldn't be bothered with explaining what they were serving. There was one toilet per two carriages, which meant there were quite a few people all waiting for a turn. Being on the top bunk I saw nothing of the country side or any scenery for that matter.

Surprise was that they shared train with other operators... Pictures online or in the voucher were misleading - this could be improced on 12go side. But overall a beautiful experience.

The ride was ok, but as the ticket was called "VIP" we expected a cleaner bed and newer wagon - but it was the old train they are were having for 60 years ;). But all in all it was a good ride - we would do it again.

Unlike buses or taxis which have numerous companies offering their services, train service is usually offered by just one major company in each country. As railway service requires a large amount of infrastructure, most railway companies are government-owned and are a part of the national transport system.

One of the best advantages of travelling by train is that railway stations are often conveniently located within or very near major cities and urban areas. Immediately on arrival to their destination, travellers find themselves in close proximity to important facilities like hotels, supermarkets, and hospitals.

If you travel with a lot of bags and luggage, trains are your best option. Luggage weight limits on trains are rather flexible and allow you to carry multiple bags with you.

Special or luxury trains feature sufficient legroom which allows you to stretch your legs and relax. In comfort and space these train seats can be compared to business class airplane seats.

Similar to buses, trains can provide a variety of amenities to make your travel more comfortable and enjoyable. Modern trains have WIFI service, a snack counter and a drinking bar. Onboard toilets can be a life saver for travellers with queasy stomachs.

Lastly, unlike buses and other overland means of transport, trains are very rarely involved in accidents.
