Pick up at the hotel in time, express ferry was old and very crowded. The bus was old, too. Seats always leaned back. Drivers had no idea of road work and stucked in traffic jam. Alternative route was possible but not taken. 1 hour delay at last. We had to go the last 600m by foot.

Cat ba to Tam Coc : so the way it goes is normal seating bus, then ferry as pedestrians, then sleeping bus. The first two went great. The bus was beeping loudly and continuously for the whole journey. We were both able to go faster than 45 km/h. When finally the driver stopped to try fix the problem, we were stopped 1h30 in the heat and the problem was not fixed. We finish the journey anxious and with the beeping still driving us crazy and still going super slow. Needless to say we arrived super late.
