Penang to Pahang Destination Reviews

Booked transport with Poh hai travel to go from Penang (Penang Komtar) to Cameron Highlands (Tanah Rata). Issue was punctuality. I was told to be at the stop ready half hour before departure time (7:30), waiting from 7am, at 07:40 I got a message from driver to say stuck in traffic and it would be 08:30. 08:30 came and went. Eventually at 9am the minibus showed up. I was waiting 2 hours in the sun (no shade at where we were told to wait). Journey was okay but due to late start we hit very heavy traffic outside Tanah Rata. The driver appeared to have to make a return to Penang route after ours. Instead of dropping us as we are already late at Tanah Rata the made us wait 20 minutes at filling station (pick up point for those passengers) so they could board. Assuming this was because they would be late for them also if they dropped us and then came back for them. It really seemed like we had no priority for them it was a sort of "Well you're already very late so you don't mind if we mess you around even more" attitude. Arrived too late to join any afternoon tours like planned so very disappointed with the service. I would not recommend Poh Hai travel based off this experience and will avoid in future if possible.

According to my reservation, the bus was scheduled to depart at 11:45 AM and arrive around 4:00 PM. However, the bus did not leave until 1:45 PM and arrived after 7:30 PM, resulting in a delay of more than 3.5 hours compared to the expected arrival time. This significant delay disrupted my travel plans and caused considerable inconvenience, especially since the booking was made in advance with the expectation of punctual and reliable service.

Public holiday so the traffic was bad. The driver did an exceptional job on the very curvy road leading to Cameron Highlands avoiding bikes and cars often on the wrong side of the road descending

I was booked on a full size bus but was picked up in a shuttle and driven to a bus depot. It was very confusing.

I would recommend not booking this operator through 12Go. You need a seat number, and 12Go bookings don’t provide you with one. When we went to Prangin Mall, and subsequently Penang Bus Terminus, we weren’t given a bus seat number from the person checking us in. When we got to Ipoh, there wasn’t enough seats in the bus for everyone and we all had to go on a different bus with more seats (took about an hour). There was also a lot of arguments between the people who had seats booked, and those who didn’t. How was anyone meant to know they were meant to have a seat number - it doesn’t say anywhere. To avoid it, I would see if you could book directly with the operator or with a different site. Other than that, the bus was fine. Loads of traffic going to Tenah Rata… took about 7.15 hours to get from Georgetown to Cameron Highlands.
