Ishbel MWent well. Instructions said arrive at Khao San Road latest 8.30pm for 9.30pm departure. In fact they started checking people in at 7pm and the bus left at 8.45pm - if you arrived at 8.30 it would be chaos as the office was packed with people waiting for later departures. VIP bus was comfortable but old, no charger sockets despite a pre-recorded announcement that they were in everything seat. Other pre-recorded information was clear and helpful (journey times, planned stops etc). Rest stop at ~2am was clean and modern. Ferry was OK, definitely recommend motion sickness pills (and the sea was calm). They wanted 200 bhat for "VIP" ferry seating (extra even with VIP bus ticket and very few seats - sold out very fast). I didn't pay so can't comment). All went smoothly enough.

Denise The first ten hours of the bus journey were unfortunately not very pleasant. The seats were squeaky, the bus made a beeping sound every two to five minutes, and overall it was not very comfortable. During the scheduled breaks, the stops were not at official gas stations or regular convenience stores, but at shops operated by the company itself. This created the impression that passengers were being subtly encouraged to purchase food or snacks there, which felt somewhat uncomfortable.
The remainder of the trip was good and seamless. Both the ferry transfer and the second bus were perfectly fine and much more comfortable.

Jelena MThe bus was late and also not in good condition, it looked like it was from the 1960s, most of the USB ports were broken, some seats could not be reclined, very little leg room. The staff was far from polite and professional. When we arrived at the place where we need to transfer to another bus the staff simply started screaming in the middle of the night and scared the living shit out of everyone on the bus that was asleep or half asleep. They were screaming everyone heading to Phuket get off here, when what they actually meant was Everyone needs to get off the bus so there was a lot if confusion due to bad communication on their end. The screaming staff was the worst I have ever encountered, and can just say if you travel with them don’t expect anything even close to the word of customer service

Jesse MThis honestly wasn't a bad trip like others have claimed, I think some people just have too high of a standard, especially for SE Asia.
In saying that, don't pay for VIP, all tickets are the same. No seat allocations so you need to ensure you get on the bus earlier to get a seat you want. Water and snacks were provided.
We travelled from Bangkok to Koh Samui and had no issues. You do a transfer to shuttle buses at Surat Thani that takes you to your respective destination or ferry terminal.
PSA it's also cheaper to buy tickets online than at the shop, they can't price match 12go
