The cabin was the same as the standard only difference was a pillow and blanket. And some soda. Definitely not worth double the ticket price. On way back now blankets given and AC very weak. Just get a standard cabin. Plus the bed on way back was very firm

The cabin wasn't the cleanest & the amount of sleep you get very much depends on who you will be sharing with. In our 1st cabin we had a super loud snorer. The door jammed shut & the air-conditioning failed for a bit - this awake the super-snorer who at least opened the door & allowed a bit of air flow - the air-con then came back to life. Bedding is basic & re-used so not particularly clean, but if you plan to sleep in your clothes & just roll with it, it is fine & with the help of headphones sleep was achieved!

I can only recommend a trip on the Hanoi-Saigon Express to anyone. Our carriages were old but clean. Air conditioning worked. We were traveling during the day and therefore did not book a sleeper. Was a decent leather seat. It was a bit of a shame that the windows were probably condensed from the previous night journey and then expired. Difficult to photograph. Some of the windows can be opened at the top. I asked the train attendant. Window open and then shot video. I was even allowed to take photos inside the locomotive. Just ask passengers if you want something. They don't know the word "no" in Vietnam. Food is brought to the seat every hour. Hot water comes out of the kettle. A little tip on the approach to Ho Chi Minh City. On the left-hand side in the direction of travel, there is a great view of the city across the Saigon River. I also spent an hour or two in the rather rustic dining car. After ten minutes we had a cool international group together. It was great fun. All in all, a clear recommendation.

Have a nice day trip It would be great if the daytime berths could be neutralized to accommodate the 4 passengers below. During the day, you don't always need to sleep.
