It was smooth. Train check-in is straight forward and doesn't take more than few minutes. Getting to train station 1-2 is not necessary, just 30 minutes before departure time is enough. The train staff is disciplined and precise. City center to train station is 30-45 minutes drive. Train itself is clean and comfortable.

As there were only four of us on the journey the bus left once we had all assembled, twenty minutes early. The bus was comfortable, aircon worked fine and the road between Vientiane and Vang Being was good and clear.

They overfill the vehicle so there was people sitting in the rows on the floor. Too full and very hot. We did take the motorway to vang vieng tho, despite other reviews

Could have been a great experience, the minibus from Vientiane to Vang Vieng (1h30min). Only the driver did not drop us off in the center of Vang Vieng, but 600m short on the main route into town. He asked us for 100.000 kip extra for the last stretch (group of 4, incl. 2 kids), which we refused. Ended up walking to the city center, no worries.
