Luang Prabang to Vientiane destination reviews

van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Feb 25, 2020
There is not a lot of leg room on the minibus but the journey was comfortable and the driver was safe. The rest stops were also regular enough and the included lunch was a nice bonus. Many thanks to the driver for keeping us safe on the mountain roads!!
van Van or Bus, Soutchai Travel, Feb 22, 2020
Drivers were excellent! Our bus was 30 minutes late picking us up, but good part was they picked us up at our hotel. We arrived in Vong Vieng where a transfer was made, all well organized. We were escorted to a different van which took us to Vientiane. Next time I would limit baggage on such a trip. Each of us carried a large suitcase, and drivers managed to fit us all into the van, but next time a rucksack would be easier. The van ride from Luang Prabang was very full of people and luggage. Our transfer van to Vientiane was roomier and more comfortable. I would use this service again.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Feb 16, 2020
Very full passeger , not convenient for 8 hours journey. we have free for lunch at a restaurant.
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Feb 10, 2020
Nicht gut organisierte Bus Gesellschaft, man muss seinen Platz suchen, die Busse sind nicht besonders sauber.3-
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Feb 6, 2020
The bus is clean and beds are well maintained. Very organised everyone sleep in their designated cabin number. Cabin length is about 1.8m just nice for me. But is not overbooked and bus driver knows his way and drive safely, it took us 9 hrs to reach Vientiane fro Luang Prabang instead of 12 hrs. VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE! My previous trip fro Vientiane to Luang Prabang was a nightmare. Took Soutchai bus: 1. Overbooked - 10 white guys have no cabin and sleep on corridor. 2. Beds are worn out and dirty cabin. 3. VERY UNORGANISED nobody follow cabin number and i almost didnt get a cabin because of this. 4. Cabin length is about 1.6m. i Had to bend my leg for 12 hrs because insufficient legroom! 5. Super bumpy and many fast cornering i was worried i couldnt make it to Luang Prabang in one piece. 6. Other than passenger they carry goods as well, my luggage was on top of the bus luckily when unload they didnt break my aluminium luggage handle! 7. SOUTCHAI BUS WAS TOTALLY RUNDOWN COMPARED TO THIS PLS DONT TAKE!
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Jan 24, 2020
Fast and on time. Perfect 8 hr adventure trip! Even lunch was included in the ticket price which was a big surprise.
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Jan 19, 2020
Las camas compartidas, son muy pequeñas, si medis más de 1.70mts se complica
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Dec 19, 2019
It has nothing to do with the buss actually, the buss was 5/5 and the comfort better than expected. But be prepared to fear for your life because the road is not close to good.
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Dec 13, 2019
The online purchase was smooth and onsite check in got no issues. Do not ignore the prompt regarding purchase of two tickets if you value your privacy and if you are not the size of a small asian girl. Ultimately the experience of the ride is in your own hands.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Dec 12, 2019
The drive took approximately 4.5 hours with about a 30 minute stop for lunch/restroom. We were in a mini bus which was comfortable enough given that it was not full to capacity. All the luggage went into the back which left the small amount of leg room free for our legs. haha Our driver drove fast which made the bumps in the road worse. Not a problem for myself but my girlfriend does get motion sick and was appropriately prepared. Making sure you are as well will make the trip go smoother for yourself and everyone else who is along for the ride. The picture provided in the attachment we received in our confirmation was clear enough but you actually need to go around behind the building in the picture and up a slight incline. Its clear as day that its a bus station once you see it its just not visible from the road. All in all about as I expected after reading several reviews across the internet.
Bus Express, Vieng Chaleune, Dec 6, 2019
VIP buses are not running daytime, so we were put on a minibus. The bus was scheduled to leave at 08:00, instead it departed at 09:00. The trip from Luang Prabang to Vientiane took 10 hours! Buying the tickets online is 30-40% more expensive than buying the tickets in Luang Prabang. You can easily buy the bus tickets at your hotel, travel angencies or at the bus station.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Dec 3, 2019
reckless driving style
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Nov 25, 2019
Uncomfortable bus trip but driver was helpful.
Bus Express, Vieng Chaleune, Nov 10, 2019
Long and very crammed, but good/careful driver
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Nov 9, 2019
55 mn late at the beginning but I guess this is a country use. It take.6 hours to arrive to van vieng from luang prabang. Local cost much cheaper but price for quiet travel by that way.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Oct 29, 2019
The minibus had AirCon and Wifi. We made plenty of stops and had a meal included.
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Oct 27, 2019
Pros: we got to Vientiane in one piece Cons: we got to bus station one hour before departure; to my shock, the driver’s son (maybe 14) wanted to take/check our tickets and there was no one else around. We got no meal before during or after the ride. The driver turned on lights as he pleased throughout the ride, not just for stops. On one of the stop he nearly left with two people still not being back on the bus. He also smoked on the bus which was hard for us to do anything about given there are no windows and our seats were at the front. But I think my biggest bugbear was the music... the terrible music played over and over the journey especially loud around 3-4am which I assume was to keep the driver awake. We arrived at 7:15am and our bags were very dirty, one was wet too.
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Oct 22, 2019
October 20, 2019 The ride was good. Safe driving and comfortable sleep. With free water, snack and fried rice for dinner. Blanket is clean too :)
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Oct 6, 2019
Sleeper night bus. Very Clean. No place to leave your little bag (main luggage kept down). You feel sometimes you lack space to move. DO NOT FORGET to take enough clothes or a blanket with you. It is very cold with the air conditioning. They blanket they provide you with is not enough. They offer a meal of good fried rice and a bottle of water.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Sep 1, 2019
Really good service, driver turned up at 09.30 and we were told to be ready for nine for a 10.00 bus so we were prepared for that. He literally just scanned my QR code on the email into his phone to swap the tickets and we got in a tuk tuk to the bus station with others that had been picked up from their hotel. Bus was waiting for us our bags were quickly transferred and we were off to van vieng. The road is VERY VERY bumpy and winding, I would advise travel sickness tablets. But the driver did well to navigate safely and we arrived early into van vieng (was meant to be 10.00-16.00 we arrived at 14.40). Would book again with this company. Only bad thing was we only stopped once for a toilet break, but as we arrived so early it was fine in the end.

van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Aug 23, 2019
Van left Luang Prabang and arrived Vang Vieng on time despite bad weather. Although driver was not very careful with this driving such as overtaking on blind spots and narrow rides and not slowing down on turns. The ride was overwhelming dangerous to be frank.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Aug 14, 2019
Bus too full. Vomiting passengers, loud music.
Bus Express, Vieng Chaleune, Aug 13, 2019
Partiti con un'ora di ritardo, durante il tragitto abbiamo preso a bordo altre persone che sono poi scese in punti non previsti causando ulteriori ritardi. Personale scortese.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Aug 10, 2019
On the plus side we got there on time, the bus was cool on a roasting hot day and the driver/fellow passengers were friendly. It is a long and bumpy ride though and might be a struggle if you are prone to travel sickness. You’re also dropped off outside Vientiane and have to pay another 20,000 kip for a tuk tuk to the centre.
Bus AC Sleeper, Vieng Chaleune, Jul 30, 2019
The seats we got given were not the best they were at the back of the bus beside the toilet, next to the engine and rather uncomfortable. There was a baby laying in the middle of an isle, which was fine until she unfortunately had an accident and stunk the whole bus out. The route was very windy which meant you moved around in your seat a lot, but we made it to Vientiane 10 minutes before scheduled which was a bonus.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Jul 29, 2019
Paid extra to have a taxi take me to the bus station from the hotel but it never showed, so had to buy another one. The taxi ended up taking me to the wrong place! When I finally arrived at the right place (before departure at 13:30), there was no one around to check the tickets. Someone finally showed at 2pm, and the minivan left a little later. The journey itself was okay; the driver drove some-what safely and carefully. However, he only stopped once to go to the bathroom himself and didn’t ask us if we needed to go. The windows were so filthy that we couldn’t see the breathtaking views! Arrived over 6 hours later.
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Jul 23, 2019
Was very easy going. Nice qualified driver and a swift 8 hour trip
van Regional 14pax, Naluang, Jul 15, 2019
Would be nice to be dropped off in the town proper but honestly the trip wasn’t bad. We arrived around 2 hours early. The road is bumpy and twisty— fair warning! Was comfortable a trip as one could hope for
