At 12Go our operators offer three types of service:

Cheap, Fast, Good - but you can usually pick only two of them!
Cheap & Fast won’t be Good. (e.g. buses from/to Khao San Road, local buses or 3rd class trains)
Cheap & Good won’t be Fast. (e.g. VIP trains in Thailand)
Fast & Good won’t be Cheap. (e.g. private limousine services, or VIP24 buses vs Express buses)

Make your choice! Please remember that while we are closely monitoring the services, we are still an agency marketplace. That means we focus on ticketing services and route availability & coverage rather than on the factual seat reclining angle you will get on the bus today.

We booked on 12go.asia. Unfortunatly they charged more to book the bus than the cost of the bus itself. If you book the bus with a local travel shop or at the bus terminal itself it’s much cheaper. On the site it’s also sold as an VIP bus, when it’s just a normaal sleepingbus with not much of sleepingspace.

Considering the road is so bad the driver managed it wonderful, but don't expect to arrive on time or sleep much: it is too bumpy. No toilet on board, the driver stopped periodically and we had to pay to use toilet. Bed was clean and water was provided :)

Bus left at 08:30, arrived at just after 21:30. That's about an average of 25 km/hr for the 340 km journey. Roads are woeful, pot holes and washouts everywhere, however the driver was brilliant, slowing down for almost all potholes (but making the trip longer). Got a bottle of water and rest stops for 5-10 mins every 2 hrs. Comfortable and fell asleep a couple of times.

As expected, a bumpy ride with several random stops where the driver deals with something inexplicable. Seats are an interesting set up; 3 rows of single bunks. You can lie back pretty far so it’s ok to sleep. No space for your small bag, so bring minimum only into bus and leave the rest in the luggage space below. It does get very cold so have socks and jumpers, scarves at the ready. Toilets had the funniest sign ‘allow to pee, not poo!’. Very narrow corridor between rows - can’t be too fat! Snack, tiny water bottle and blanket provided.

Our bus had an issue about 45 minutes after leaving the station at Luang Prabang amd we waited for an hour or more to change buses. Then the driver stopped again half an hour later for 15-20 minutes and the whole ride he kept playing music loudly.

While a sleeping is never going to be the most comfortable, this one is pretty uncomfortable. The max height to lay flat in the bed is about 5ft 8inch. But it did the job. Best to book locally as it is significantly cheaper than 12go

I traveled from Luang prabang to Vientiane. The trip was okay. They started and ended mostly on time. The road is quite bad and unpaved most of the way. If you are tall, you will have trouble in the sleeper version of the bus. It is a bit cramped and there is not enough space to keep your handbag. You might want to bring some jacket. The AC could be freezing. The blanket they give is too thin to be of any help. Another awkward thing is the lack of bathrooms on the way. The bus stops periodically (every 45 minutes or so) but you have to take a leak in the open on the road!

the beds were so small, a combination of very narrow dentist chairs and a race car. no way to be comfortable. And the driver kept playing loud music throughout the trip, I realize it was meant to keep him alert, but there was no sleeping on the VIP overnight sleeper bus for the paying customers.

Not the best bus trip I've done (and I've done a lot). With 12h estimated for ~350km, it is not acceptable that the bus leaves 45min behind schedule, despite the passengers were already on the bus. Second, the bus was so old that not only it was travelling bellow 20km/h going up hill, but the driver had to stop often, I guess to cold down the engine. Sure, the stretch of road from Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng is in horrible shape and perhaps other bus companies would not have done best. If I had to do this again, I would search for the slow boat options..

Dirty bus, in late because of terrible roads and some more stops due to others accidents. Lunch and toilet stop after 5 hours (may be too much for all of us)

First time on a sleeper bus. Experience was refreshing but if you are staying at the upper deck, it is a little troublesome but overall still ok. Note: not to wear shoes as it is a little troublesome as you will be required to remove your shoes before stepping into the bus. Blanket will be provided so no worries about the coolness in the bus.

The bus was leaking water onto several seats, and one guy had to move 3 times. There was never any info about, what each stop consisted of, and how much time we had, so going to the toilet always felt a little risky, and you didn't know if or where you could buy food. There was a noodle soup included in the afternoon, but you need to bring water and plenty of snacks yourself. On the positive side the luggage got number tagged and matched your ticket, so no one should be able to leave with it at a stop. The driver had a good musical taste, but if you like it quiet you should sit in the back.

Good trip, no problems swapping voucher at bus station at Luang Prabang. Only thing is we stopped for quite a while just outside Luang Prabang without explanation. Still made it on time though. I was next to the toilet however, just unfortunate but horrible smell coming most of the time even though i was checking pretty often it was closed. Just luck of the draw. Anyway would recommend still because it was nice and easy.
