Vang Vieng to Vientiane Destination Reviews

SC
It was good. They arrived about 20 minutes late, but they were picking up other passengers en route to pick me up so it’s ok I guess. It would have been nice to receive a message saying they were on their way or some kind of confirmation about that. Aside from that everything else was good.

The bus we were supposed take was seemingly overbooked and we got in another van. The seats were uncomfortable and there was no leg room (and I’m short). Not enough space for bags under the van so the aile was filled with suitcases.

They had us wait 1hour for the hotel pick up, which was tuktuk, then 1,5hours at random Gas station before putting us in crowded van to get us to bus. The journey was supposed to take 2 hours and took 5. No one said anything at all - very chaotic.

Very efficient. Be advised, you can't take liquids over 100ml, or anything else that might be restricted on an airline. You get your bag checked when you enter the station. The train itself is very new, and they were very efficient. The staff expect you to stay in your assigned seat. The station isn't really designed for western tourists, and not all signage is in English. Most of the staff speak either Lao or Mandarin - it is more geared to Chinese tourists.
