The process was well done: shuttle bus in Sapa, sleeper bus to Hanoi, bus to Haifon, boat to Catba, bus in Catba. The sleeper was very clean and comfortable. However, it was difficult to sleep due to strong shaking at serpentine road. We started from Sapa at 11 pm and arrived in Hanoi about 4.40 am, where they left us near a closed office of Sao Viet. Only closer to 6 am a bus picked us up to Daiichi office. The last part of the trip, from Hanoi to Catba, took less then 3 hours.

It was OK. We travelled from sapa to cat ba over hanoi. We had to wait over an hour at a dark and dirty street in hanoi. Rest was good.

Paid for a VIP sleeper. Had this from 3 hours to Hanoi, then changed to a limo bus, then changed to another bus still in Hanoi. Then drove Hanoi to cat ba in a seater bus (not sleeper) and then had to catch a ferry and yet another bus from the ferry to the hostel. Obviously sleep was not possible with this schedule and only the first 30% of the trip was a vip sleeper

I went from Sapa to Cat Ba, but I had to change buses in Hanoi, but unfortunately it was badly planned as I missed my next bus (although they waited 40min for me!).
BUT I really have to say that the service from the bus company was amazing! I thought I had to stay one night in Hanoi because it was supposedly the last ferry, but I wrote to the hotline and they organized everything for me (for free) - shuttle, private cab, ferry and another private cab
I was very grateful for that.
(But next time plan a little more buffer and communicate to the guests when and where you have to change, because I didn't know until a woman from the next bus called me)
