There were positives and negatives to the bus journey from Hoi An to Phong Nha. On the positive side, we were picked up from our hotel by a driver to take us to the bus company office. The bus that we had was clean and comfortable. On the negative side, we were told as we were leaving that there would be a 30 minute wait in Hue. This turned into 3 hours, but without explanation or information on how long the wait would be. We weren’t even in one place as we moved up and down the road. Instead of arriving at 7pm, it was 11:30pm.

The departure station was a little confusing cuz it was just outside some closed shop and no one spoke to us first, but then we asked a guy there and he said we were at the right stop. Came 30 mins late (someone else on the same trip was informed about it, but we weren't) and arrived 30 mins early. Pretty comfortable.

Operator was late by 2hrs without giving any prior info. Compartment length is shorter for average Indian. Driver and conductor talks whole night- distrubing sleep continuously. Too many stops at random places but no good stop for using restroom facility

The transfer was not well communicated (The message I got said I would transfer in Hanoi but my trip was from Hoi An to Phong Nha) and my bag was returned to me from the second bus smelling of urine (I had to get it washed at the hostel in Phong Nha) but the first bus and drivers were wonderful and I had a great ride with them on the Queen Bee Cafe bus.

Great experience. The bus arrived a little late but there was a chap there who had our names on his phone which reassured us. It stopped every 2 hours as promised. We did a 7hr day trip, not sure I would sleep on one but it was a lovely way to travel through the day.
