Hanoi to Danang Destination Reviews

Poor. Beds were incredibly hard and water stores ran out by morning so toilets out of action and no handwashing. Just book a regular trip - no need for an expensive tour operator. That add nothing to the experience except frustration.

The service was friendly and helpful, offering drinks and snacks periodically; we also enjoyed the complimentary snacks/water. The toilet and washrooms were clean. The beds however were hard and uncomfortable, and we found we were sharing with an older man as a group of young women which we weren’t warned about.

The most comfortable 16h journey I have ever been on. The time absolutely flew and we both slept all night .

Great service and experience from Laman Express. We chose the 2 berth cabin as didn't fancy sharing it with others. The staff was very helpful with any questions we had. The cabin was clean and so were the beds. There's selection of snacks available in the cabin for free along with 2 bottles of water and beer or tea. More light snacks can be ordered online. The toilets were okay. There are 2 sockets under the table for charging whatever you might need to charge. There's aircon inside the cabin (on the ceiling) which you can adjust to your liking. It's not easy to sleep on a moving train like this. The noise you can combat with earphones or earplugs, but the shaking is not something you can control. While the beds are okay, it won't change the fact that the whole cabin is moving as the train is going along. This might not be for everyone. A few tips: Get some food and/or drinks for takeaway before you board the train as the selection is not great. If you want to keep the door ever so slightly open without listening to the constant banging on the rails, you can jam the small leather booklet or the slippers between the door and the frame to stop it from making a noise.

This should not be sold as premium. It is just average at best. Only good part is the option to have a 2 bed compartment. There wasn't any coffee, beer or coke in the carriage. Only saw the Laman Express staff member at very start of journey when he gave us a fruit juice and then when we got off at end of journey. Menu on train was awful. Only offered water, beer or a noodle pot. Can't even order a coffee when you want one. Have to wait until the Vietnamese Railway guys are passing in the morning. Laman Express guy certainly wasn't busy doing anything else! Check in at Mango Hotel is just sitting in a hotel lobby and I had to buy my own drinks.

I have ridden many trains in Europe, Canada and Japan (including several sleeper trains in Europe) over many years. The VIP New Livitrans Express is not like those trains. We bought a VIP ticket which should have put us in a private compartment for 2 but we shared with 2 others and a third person a few stops later (note: the bedding was not changed between travellers). VIP simply meant a cover on our pillow and a bag of snacks worth about 150,000VND ($8 CAD). The compartment was hot due to anemic AC and the beds were hard and permanent - they were not seats that flipped over to become beds. Washroom was much more cramped than modern trains. Very disappointing and comparitavely expensive trip (tickets purchases from 12go) from Hanoi to Da Nang that arrived an hour late - which just prolonged the agony.

Very efficient way to book the train. No problem at the station with e-tickets. Boarding was problem free.

The train cabin was not the cabin in your 12GO promo picture. There was no wifi for 95% of this 17 hour trip. The A/C was ok at best. The food package looked like a sandwich but it was a bread roll, banana and a small bag of cheese crackers.

It was better than we expected. Train left and arrived on time. It would have been nice to have the snacks that was part of our package that we bought to be displayed on the table instead of being in a brown paper bag. Washrooms were clean. The door to the compartment to get food was broken while we were there.
