We had a engine problem on the water and the boat was really unstable. The trip felt more like a rollercoaster and we heard a lot of bad stories. So we decided to not go back with the same boat and drive the shorter water way over Malaysia back home. The ferry to Malaysia is bigger.

From ticket purchase to disembarking all smooth. A couple of squalls late on trip that created short chop - crew minimise impact. Felt safe all trip. If you have kids recommend headphones - 4 x 250 Honda outboards make a noise.

We thought we were taking a speedboat from Koh Lanta to Koh Lipe but ended up being in a minivan for 4h driving all the way to Satun! Before departing on a speedboat from there. Nobody explained what was going on throughout the day and all passengers were quite confused. It's really expensive compared to other travels we've done in the country. And the minivan driver was going really fast and taking huge risks.

Ko Lanta to Ko Lipe. 70 seat speed boat. On time departure and arrival. A couple of quick stops along the way. Staff efficient. Covered area for luggage. A 3 hour trip. Two seasickness tablets before departure. Not sure whether it was just a smooth day but the trip was extremely bearable.
