Ruch EI booked a first-class ticket, but due to overbooking (which seems to happen far too often, why is there always overbooking?), I was placed in second class. In the end, I paid the same price as a second-class ticket, even though the correct fare should have been almost half of what I originally paid.
The staff were very responsive and kind, and I truly thank them for that. However, despite being informed of the issue three days before departure, I did not receive a proper refund or any commercial gesture. This was especially disappointing since I had booked my train ticket two weeks in advance specifically to avoid this kind of situation.

Julien RDowngrade because of 12go, that book random sleeper place for our familly. A child of 4 years old was placed away from us, alone in a upper sleeper place. Fortunatly, people were nice on the train.

Cleo BWe were late to book our tickets so only managed to get 2nd class seats. The toilets qe very good and the AC worked well. You are provided a blanket too which is a nice touch. Once leaving Vientiane you travel 10 minutes across the friendship bridge and then you get off again to go through immigration. The seats aren't the comfiest and they leave the lights on all night. Id also recommend booking directly through the railway company as the information from 12go did not match the reality of the booking. E.g. according to 12go train arrives in Bankok at 5:30am however its actually scheduled to arrive at 7:30am.

Michael Comfortable train journey into thailand. Train station was quiet and orderly. We did have to pay 10k kip for leaving the country but after some research border officers are allowed to charge for overtime fee. It isnt much money but I dont like supporting corruption.
The train was tidy and comfortable with clean bed sheets and bedding provided. Toilets were good too but bring your own toilet paper as it runs out fast.
Otherwise a great journey I actually enjoyed!
