Padang Besar Malaysia to Bangkok Destination Reviews

The thing that would improve the experience for me: 1. A lift down to the Thai train platform. Or a device that would at least take the luggage up and down. Going up and down stairs carrying a heavy bag is very difficult.

Travelled from Padang Besar to Bangkok on 2nd class sleeper. TLDR: Bring a jacket, and enough food and water for the trip. The train does not have a dining car, so you have to supply your own food. There's a cafeteria at Padang Besar train station where you can stock up before going on. The sleeper bed is hard and not comfortable, but the bedding was very clean. They provide you a pillow and a blanket. However the AC is turned way down and the blanket was barely adequate. Wear a jacket and long pants like the locals do. Toilet is pretty dirty, but there's a bidet pistol so wash the seat before sitting down, or use the squat toilet. By right, smoking is not allowed in the train, but people do smoke in the space between carriages and in the toilet. The staff really don't care, but don't worry as you won't smell it in the car. Not all staff speaks English, but some speaks rather decent English, and they're friendly and helpful.

It was easy to book but no option to select upper or lower berth. I was told this was allocated automatically. Also the website says i can board with e-ticket but your customer service said I needed paper ticket so had to arrange to print this. I'm still not sure if I could've used e-ticket but it wasn't clear. Train ride itself with SRT was as expected. No issues. Again, timings a bit unclear due to Malay/Time difference.
