The vehicle was ancient and filthy. The air conditioning didn't work, and the windows had to remain open even though the route was incredibly dusty! The sliding door couldn't be opened manually from either the inside or outside; it had to be unlocked with the key. We definitely didn't book a van or minibus like this!

Disorganised bus was an hour late with no update until we asked about it, to which the response was “pickup soon”. There was confusion when the bus came. There was no luggage storage on the bus so I had all the bags at my feet with no leg room at all. Driver was on his phone nearly the whole journey. Bus was also not 4 hours and closer to 6. If I could give it zero I would.

Pick up location was not clear. Van was old and overbooked, departed 1.5hrs late. Drive was ok, given road conditions. Van then broke down, requiring a 2hr stop to repair suspension, this 7km from Nong Khiaw - no alternate vehicle was called for the remaining 10minute drive.

It took over two hours to pick up all the people from their hotels. The trip ended up lasting over seven hours, and it wasn't even the bus with the comfortable seats, as shown in the photos. However, the driver drove safely and calmly, to say something positive.
