The mini van that collected us had no brakes, so everything the driver braked, all you could hear was metal on metal screeching, which isn't good over the mountains in the rain for over 4 hrs. The driver has a habit of just feathering the accelerator, which causes the van to judder and feels like a kangaroo motion, which doesn't make passengers feel well. The speedboat journey wasn't much better, it was rough seas and despite several people being sick and passenger luggage being thrown about, there was no let up from the driver who continued when he could at top speed, at times the entire boat felt airborne. All were glad when we got off.

The transfer pick up in our hotel with others passangers, we were 7. The travel took 4.30hours and then we pick the speed boat for 1.30hours and we arrive. Everything was perfect and on time.

My journey from Ao Nang to Koh Lipe went absolutely smoothly. Everything was perfectly organized: I was picked up on time at my hotel in Ao Nang, and the transfer to the pier was comfortable and stress-free. Upon arrival, the staff was ready to assist with luggage and provide clear instructions about the boat ride. The boat trip itself was well managed, with helpful staff, clear information, and everything running exactly on schedule. I felt well taken care of throughout the journey. Upon arrival at Koh Lipe, staff were again there to help with luggage and guide us through immigration and onto the beach. Overall, a perfect and worry-free experience. I would highly recommend this route from Ao Nang to Koh Lipe to anyone looking for a smooth and hassle-free transfer to paradise.

Overall experience is dated poor due to the reckless driving by the minibus driver from Ao Nang to Pakbara pier. Continuously speeding, driving on the other side of the road, getting up close to vehicles in front and beeping to get them to move out of the way. There were multiple occasions where he slammed on his brakes because cars ahead had slowed and there was no room for him to overtake.

Picked up on time, long drive to Pak Bara pier, driver stopped for a couple of toilet breaks for us. Well organised at the pier to collect our boat tickets and get on the boat to Ko Lipe. The first boat we got on appeared to have a problem shortly after we set off, they sent another boat and we transferred over. This was all handled fairly quickly with our luggage transferred for us. No one on the boat spoke English though, luckily a passenger could translate and let us know what was going on. Very little information about timings, etc...you just have to trust the process!
