Traveling on the overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai was a unique experience and one that we highly recommend. We booked our tickets through **12Go**, and their service was excellent. They were responsive and very helpful whenever we had questions before the trip, making the entire booking process smooth and stress-free. Since it was our first time sleeping on a train, we were a little nervous at first. However, boarding was quick and easy. Once on board, we were greeted by a lovely older attendant who helped us purchase breakfast for the next morning, as well as hot drinks for the evening. Around 8:00 PM, another staff member came through the carriage and transformed the seats into beds. The bedding—including the pillow, blanket, and sheets—was individually sealed in plastic, smelled fresh, and was very clean. Sleeping on the train may be challenging if you're a light sleeper, as the train travels slowly and makes frequent stops throughout the night. Our 13-year-old son, however, slept like a baby! At around 6:00 AM, the staff gently woke everyone up, served breakfast to those who had ordered it, folded the beds away, and converted them back into seats, preparing the carriage for arrival. Overall, this was a memorable adventure and a wonderful way to travel between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. It was comfortable, well-organized, and added something special to our trip. We would happily do it again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a different travel experience in Thailand.

Everything went smoothly, except I would really like it if the tickets were digital. We had to pick them up at their office in Chatuchak, so that took us some time. Otherwise everything else is explained. If you can read, you are good.

Long and hectic train ride, like a trippy portal to another dimension. Get the A/C room if you can. Lights were on the whole time in our carriage. Some confusion on seat assignments, and our group was split up. Train departed right on time, but arrived around 30 minutes behind schedule.

I selected a top and bottom bunk when I picked my settings to book. I was travelling with a toddler and missed that you didn’t in fact booked me on two top bunks. Please make this more obvious as this is dangerous and we struggled to keep her safe from falling. Service on this train was particularly bad. And the service person themselves play load music all night. I have travel on this route often. The best bit about this route is the view and the windows on this train are completely deteriorating so there isn’t a clear window to see through.
