Considering I went for the cheap option, bus was quite comfy. I was lucky to get a pair of chairs to myself with nobody behind so was able to recline and catch some sleep. Blankets provided. Air conditioned. Express ferry departed on time and was able to enjoy the deck during the trip. Well coordinated with stickers from Bangkok. Bus departed alnost 1 hour late but didn't matter, still arrived at Chumphon pier in plenty of time to get a drink and breakfast before the ferry.

Overall good, smooth bus + ferry. Bus ride is something like 8 hours, with a 15 minute stop about halfway through. You can buy meals, snacks, coffee, drinks and use the washroom. The bus seats are not the comfiest. They recline a bit but don’t expect a good night’s sleep. Ferry was about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Good smooth ride, as the water seemed calm that morning.

There was so much confusion at the check-in and then they brought us to the wrong bus. Our seats were broken, even the air conditioning above us. finally, we arrived at the ferry two hours before the departure, that was very tiring.

Too much waste of time : you have to come at 6:30 PM at the Lamarayah office, then before 8:00 AM, then you wait the departure of the office (at 8:30)… You spend all the afternoon and evening waiting… Boring ! Getting the train tickets for BKK-Chiang Mai was a waste of Time as well : we had to go to the office of 12GO ( very far from the center Town) : some people didn’t do it and changed their voucher at the train station : we regretted not doing it ( we didnot know it was possible and it is a shame : we spent Time and money !)
