Koh Samui to Bangkok Destination Reviews

K
We were not given information about the route. Had to change between several different vehicles without really knowing where we were going next. When we got to the boat, no one spoke English that we could understand. They told us that we had to jump on a boat that was standing on land, our boat that we were going on would depart after 2 hours. Got no explanation. Once there, there was no one. who could explain to us where we were going next. Instead, they put us on a tuk tuk that drove us to a "bus station" and there we would sit for 3 hours, without food and without water. Once on the bus, the AC was on and it was really cold. We went on 4 different vehicles without having it explained to us where we were going. Really poor information to customers.

Paid for VIP - seats were the same as regular ones, didn’t get the wifi that was advertised with it, nor the snack. Meal choice was okay. You spend about an hour waiting at the bus stop in Surat Thani for the next bus to get on. Arrived to bangkok 30 mins early (5:30am). Don’t bother turning up for the ferry a hour early, you need half a hour MAX but even then you will just spend that time waiting. Bus smelt really good though.

The blankets were too thin and too short. And I like it when the seats are at the same height with the floor.

Didn’t get into Bangkok at expected time. The bus was extremely unorganized and we were worried if we were even going to get on the bus

Everything was well managed and comfortable. Very helpful in connecting to the small bus and the ferry. Just didnt like the fact that the lady in suratthani bus station charged us more than double the actual price of taxi from the nathon pier to our hotel. Except for being cheated there, everything was good.

The journey itself was fine. The ferry & both busses were on time. The journey includes a 2hr wait at Surat Thani bus station so that’s something to factor in. The sleeper bus was comfortable and you got a free water & snack onboard. We arrived into Bangkok early. The only issue we had was our bags had clearly been tampered with and I can only assume the bus attendants had searched through our bags once we put them in storage. Nothing was stolen but it was clear they’d been opened and tampered with. I highly recommend you not to leave money inside your bags and keep any valuables with you for this reason. I’ve seen several reviews of bus operators doing this sort of thing but this was our first experience. Unfortunately, despite most companies being trustworthy & reputable, some companies let them down by being the opposite & for this reason I’d always edge on the side of caution. The journey itself was fine, just let down by this experience.

All the people were lovely, but I specifically paid more in the hopes of WiFi and a toilet on the bus, also thinking it would be more comfortable than other options. However there was no WiFi, the first bus we were on didn’t seem to have a toilet, and then we swapped busses and the second bus was much less spacious than the first! It did have a toilet though, but still no WiFi. They were also pretty cheeky as there was food included in the ticket price, but no mention of it until after our first stop, where they scanned our tickets again and pointed us towards food options, only for them to charge us 60 baht for the food. As I was on antibiotics I had no choice as I didn’t know when we’d be stopping again, and I’m glad I spent the money as we didn’t stop again till after midnight. as soon as we got back on the bus after that first stop though, they handed out the food coupons. Very misleading to me. It also said there’d be snacks, of which I saw none. The people were all lovely, but yeah, not particularly worth the extra money, at least for me.
