We experienced scam at New Delhi station. We arrived at New Delhi Railway Station on time for our train to Agra and were looking for the correct platform. A man in a railway uniform approached us, urged us to hurry, and directed us to the security check. At the security check, another uniformed staff member asked for our tickets, then falsely claimed our train was canceled. He insisted we needed to go to the ticket office at Connaught Place and guided us toward an auto-rickshaw, saying it would cost 200 rupees. We were filming our trip, but when he noticed, he became angry, grabbed my phone, forced us to stop recording, and made us delete the video—confirming our suspicion that something was wrong. When we refused the auto rickshaw and said we’d cancel our trip, the same man suddenly claimed the train was not canceled but delayed, and tried taking us to the platform. As we attempted to leave, he again tried to push us into an auto, this time quoting 800 rupees. When we refused again, he called another uniformed “porter,” who tried to lead us to a deserted, ruined staircase. Feeling unsafe, we quickly walked away. Later, we discovered many reports of similar scams involving people in official railway uniforms, even security staff.
