Die Fahrt war gut und kurzweilig. Die Abfahrt erfolgte pünktlich und die Ankunft war nach nicht ganz 12 Stunden. Es wurde einmal eine Pause gemacht und ich empfand das auch als ausreichend. Leider gibt es für Touristen keine Anweisungen an der Grenze von den Busfahrern. Kaum Englisch der Fahrer

Overall the ride was fantastic and the seats comfortable. However, there was a person with special needs and made it troublesome for me to get some sleep as he kept shouting all throughout the night

I travelled from BKK to Viantiane through the sleeper bus. I had a good rest and privacy inside my bunk bed (i'm 5'3 btw so i fit comfortably inside). I had no troubles checking in using my printed out ticket. Everything will go smoothly if the trip is well planned.
Fan train is generally clean with minimal dust, though some dust comes in through the open windows—especially on the luggage racks above. The seats are arranged for two people, with another pair facing them.
I took a night trip, and it was quite hard to sleep sitting upright. The seats aren’t comfortable enough for long rest, and my back started to feel stiff after a while. Luckily, my carriage wasn’t crowded, so people spread out and used one seat per person to lie down. I did the same and managed to get some sleep.
Fan class is better suited for daytime travel, where you can enjoy the scenery and don’t need to sleep.
Overall, good value for the price.
I had a second class seat. Administratively, it was all uncomplicated, including the crossing into Laos. Comfort was ok, but the Aircon was too cold, and passing people rarely closed the door to the midsection between carriages, which was made it noisy.
