It is only 200 km from Hua Hin to Bangkok, but as traffic can be quite heavy along both route 4 and route 35, expect your bus, van or taxi journey take from 3 to 5 hours, while with a train you will reach the centre of Bangkok in 4 hours for sure. The majority of buses and vans will bring you to the Southern Bus Terminal or Ekkamai in the eastern part of the capital. Ekkamai is better connected with the rest of the city but it takes slightly longer to get there compared to Sai Tai Mai. Trains are the cheapest way to go if you are ready to consider 3rd class hard seats, but if not, you ticket can cost you anywhere between THB200 and THB400 for a first or a second class berth. The best thing about taking a train between Hua Hin and Bangkok is that it brings you right to Hua Lamphong train station which sits in the heart of the city and has the MRT line of the same name to help you get around.
