Dishonest Provider. Booked a speedboat but only got a long tail.
I purchased a speedboat transfer through 12Go/Tigerline. On the day of travel, no speedboat was provided. Instead, we were repeatedly told by the local representative at Railay that there was no speedboat at all, only a long-tail boat. Because there was no other option presented, we were forced to take a long-tail boat to a different pier and then a Tigerline van on the mainland to our final destination.
We specifically booked a speedboat due to seasickness issues, and we paid significantly more for it. The actual service we received (long-tail + local van) normally costs about 200–280 THB per person, but we were charged almost four times that amount for a service that was not delivered. (750 bhat per person)
I requested a partial refund (750–1,000 THB), which I believe is reasonable and supported by local price comparisons. 12Go refused to issue any refund. Tigerline called us liars when we asked for a partial refund to reflect the actual service we received. I've now spent weeks arguing with 12go while Tiger line gives completely nonsense responses. Tiger line's response is that we must've gotten on the wrong boat which makes no sense because we didn't pay that boat operator anything and there was a Tiger line van waiting for us once we got to the wrong pier. Why would a different operator let us ride for free? Why would we go to the wrong boat after speaking to their representative? (They admit that we checked in properly.) Why was there a Tigerline van waiting for us if we went to the wrong place? Why did the Tigerline van also let us ride for free if it wasn't part of my itinerary? What do I even have to gain from all this when I could've just booked a long tail directly if that's what I wanted? The only thing I asked for was a partial refund to reflect the much cheaper service rendered. Literally no one in this whole scheme has anything to gain but Tiger line and even though I have provided evidence including pictures, 12go continues to parrot nonsensical explanations given by Tiger line with 0 evidence.
2 stars because we did get to where we needed to go in the end, it just took twice as long, and cost 4x as much.
Find a different operator.
To improve the experience, it would be better if you let them know which boat number will be picking you up, since there is no one at the Pier coordinating with the company.
Luckily they called me on the phone and I was able to take the boat.
We should be there at 7:30 am but the check in office opened at 8:00 am. Chaos and our Order was not given to the Operator. But as usual in Thailand, it worked out in the end. The following transfer to Koh Phangan worked perfect.
