Good beds for a sleeper train, but many people talking very loud all night, including staff and vendors. Also very bright lights in the sleeping area, why can’t these be dimmed during nighttime?

I booked the 2nd class AC because it was the only remaining option for the dates I was booking. The seats are fine, and do recline, but nothing particularly comfortable. There are also people getting on and off throughout the journey, so if you don't have a window seat you may have to move to let people on etc. I was sitting close to the front my the door too, which beeped everytime it opened, and the cabin heated up if it was open too long. I'm not generally a light sleeper, but I barely got any sleep. The toilets were clean at the start of the journey but had started to smell a bit my the end. The steward provide food and snacks in the evening and coffee in the morning as you come into Bangkok. Overall, if you have to, it's safe and clean, and probably better than the bus options, but get a sleeper if it's an option.
