Torch uses different vehicles as taxis. Depending on the number of people in your group and your requirements to comfort levels you can choose the class of the vehicle which suits your best. - Travelling by taxi gives you flexibility in terms of the departure time, route, and stops along the way. The only thing to remember is to inform your taxi operator of your requirements in advance so they can calculate the right fare for you. Otherwise, the final bill can be higher than expected
- Taxi is the best means of transport which allows you to keep social distancing during the pandemic.
- Taxi may be the only means of transport available to bring you to some destinations where there is no train, bus, or van connection, not to speak about planes.
Cons of Taxi Travel
- Taking a taxi can be costly compared to van or bus travel. Well, but private service does come at a price, so no surprise here
- You may have to pay extra for any unexpected deviation from the route or waiting time if it occurs. Do discuss your every request in advance and make sure it is included into the calculation of your fare.
- If you speak the same language, some taxi drivers can be annoyingly talkative.
- For nervous passengers who follow the trip on Google Maps it can be quite disturbing if your taxi driver chooses to take a weird route, a shortcut, or just to make a detour to avoid traffic jams or a bad road.

Alan DIt was a bit unclear where the van would pick us up, but after some texting via WhatsApp with the dispatcher we got the confirmation that they pick us up at our hotel. The journey went smoothly and we even had a short break (after 1,5 hour drive) to get some snacks. The airconditioning in the van was a bit too warm for us though. We arrived on time at the harbour, lunched (at our own expense) and went onwards with the catamaran to Koh Tao. Good service.

Oliver WOur driver was on time, but said nothing and made no attempt to confirm he was our driver or our end location.
He drove fine for the first half of our journey. After stopping for petrol he began driving aggressively and rushing - switching lanes erratically and driving up other cars backs at high speeds. When we asked him to slow down he said he has to get back to Hua Hin after he drops is off which isn't really our issue as he's accepted this fare. He then continued driving the same way so we asked him to drive safely again, then he used his phone to photograph his speedometer and tried to show this to us to prove he was driving at the speed limit which wasn't the issue - it was the moves he was making to overtake in a rush - and we also wanted him to focus on the road, not his phone.
We arrived at our destination, he didn't even attempt to help us with our luggage and drive off as soon as he could.
Based on this experience, I won't use this companies service again. This driver made us feel unsafe and made no attempt to change how he drove after we flagged this. His only concern was how soon he could get home.

Geoffrey BI would give 5 stars because everything was very good. The only downside I found was that an additional 180 baht has to be paid for the ferry, 90 baht per person. It is not about the amount, which is very little in itself, but about the principle. It is always better if you know beforehand what everything costs.
