Sri Suthep Tour runs buses from its headquarters in Bangkok to a range of destinations around Thailand. It is based at the Southern Bangkok Bus Terminal, also known as Sai Tai Mai, and primarily services the south of Thailand.

Some of the provinces that Sri Suthep Tour travels to include Surat Thani, Trang, Satun, and Songkhla. It operates a range of routes and schedules and almost all buses are overnight services. You can choose from VIP and Express buses, and the main difference is that the VIP bus is equipped with entertainment options, meals, and a steward. Both buses have snacks, drinks, and toilets.

Bangkok–Suratthani

Bangkok to Suratthani is one of the most popular south-bound routes in the country as Suratthani is a gateway to the islands of the Gulf, including Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao as well as a convenient transfer point for onward travels both to the destinations along the Andaman Coast and in the Deep South.

Note that there are 3 buses that leave for Suratthani at 5.20 pm. These however include both an Express Bus and a VIP Bus and tickets vary accordingly. For the Express Bus tickets start at THB550 and for the VIP Bus tickets are THB800. The journey takes 9 hours arriving at 2.30 am.

Suratthani–Bangkok

Travelling north from Suratthani to Bangkok there are departures at 10 am and 7.15 pm at a cost of THB500. The journey takes just under 11 hours. Passengers on the 7.15 pm bus should note that it arrives in Bangkok at 5.50 am.

Bangkok–Trang

Being one of the less explored southern destinations, Trang is a hidden gem of the Andaman Coast. Buses from Bangkok to Trang leave at 4.30 pm and at 7 pm. The former is the Express Bus costing THB600, and the latter is the VIP Bus with tickets sold for THB800. The journey takes 12 hours.

Sri Suthep Tour is known for being one the most experienced and has a good safety record with qualified drivers.

Buses are air conditioned and have toilets and reclining seats.

You can choose between an Express Bus and a VIP Bus for a small fee.

The main drawback for these buses is that they are slightly more expensive than many competitors, although this is also said to be in line with their higher standards of service.

Almost all buses are overnight services which mean you will arrive early in the morning which may not be suitable for some travelers.

The bus is equipped with air conditioning although it is often fierce so it is best to bring your own blanket or sweater.

Although some of the buses are sold as VIP buses rather than Express buses this does not mean that they are similar in terms of cleanliness and service to VIP buses in Europe or other countries.

Buses often arrive at a destination in the early hours of the morning. Some passengers like solo female travellers may not feel comfortable with this and as such should consider other transport options.

There have been reports by passengers that the bus station in Bangkok is confusing and crowded. As such give yourself plenty of time to find the right bus.

Passengers have reported that the seating system on buses is different to that stated on tickets. This means you should expect to be seated when you arrive at the bus regardless of your seat number.

Buses in Thailand are often subject to delays and may also have technical problems en routes. As a result journeys may take longer than advertised and it is best to leave time between arriving in your destination and any onward travel as you may miss a connecting flight or train if the bus has a delay.
