Routes served by Budsarakham Tour
There are a variety of routes served by Budsarakham Tour although some of these are subject to seasonal changes so make sure to check ahead. Routes that are currently in operation are as follows:

Bangkok–Nong Khai

Travelling from Bangkok to Nong Khai is popular with those who are planning either to embark on a road journey along the border with Laos or to cross the border and get to Vientiane.

Tickets are between THB450 and THB600 and buses leave twice daily at 7 pm and 8.30 pm. The journey takes approximately 9 hours. Note that these buses arrive at 4 am and 5 am in Nong Khai. It leaves you with enough time to get to Vientiane in the morning to submit documents for your Thai visa should you need one.

Once in Nong Khia, you can buy a ticket for one of the departures with Transport Co Intl who operate buses along the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge.

Nong Khai–Bangkok

Similarly, Nong Khai to Bangkok ticket is a convenient oprtion to get back to the capital of Thailand. Tickets on this service cost up to THB600. Buses leave at 8.05 pm and travel overnight arriving in Bangkok at 5.25 am. The journey takes around 9 hours.

Bangkok–Chiang Mai

Budsarakham Tour also operates buses between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, but these ones normally run during high season only.

Pros
Budsarakham Tour offer a cheap way of travelling between Bangkok and Nong Khai.

Buses travel overnight so although the journey is long there is also the opportunity to sleep most of the way.

Buses are spacious with ample legroom and have reclining seats for added comfort.

All buses are air-conditioned and include food and drinks.

Buses have toilets on board.

You can book tickets online.

Tickets may be cancelled and refunded although this is also subject to terms and conditions.

Cons
Some buses are older models and may not be very clean.

Budsarakham Tour does offer a range of routes across Thailand although these are subject to change and passengers may not be able to book certain routes out of season.

Buses travel overnight and many arrive at their destinations early in the morning around 4 or 5 am. This means that passengers may not be able to check into hotels or find onward transportation easily at their destination due to the unfavourable arrival times.

Keep in mind
You will need to take a printed ticket with you although often this does not correlate to your actual seat which is subject to change.

Refunds and ticket cancellations may not always be possible with this company.

Air conditioning on buses in Southeast Asia can be fierce although blankets are provided. Passengers may still wish to bring their own sweaters or wraps.

The website for this company is only in Thai and as such it is difficult to find information on how to purchase a ticket directly if you are not a Thai speaker.

What travellers say
Some passengers have reported that buses are sometimes delayed by up to 2 hours although often the extra time is made up during the journey. As such make sure to keep plans flexible upon arrival at your destination in case of delays.

Passengers have found that although they have booked VIP buses, these are sometimes old, uncomfortable, and unclean. If possible try to check the bus first before deciding if you want to buy a ticket and will be comfortable on an overnight journey.

Buses also have stewards to help with refreshments and blankets and passengers have reported that they are helpful, speak good English, and are on hand to help with any queries.

Not as good as I'd expected. The bus was very jumpy setting off every time we stopped and the driver played loud music in the middle of the journey for several hours. There wasn't wifi as advertised. Chairs were comfortable enough but reacted with mine and others skin - presumably because they weren't clean and covered in layers of dried sweat. Other than that the journey was okay, staff friendly enough.

We had vip seats which were fantastic , it was a pleasant journey. However , the lady that was working on the coach kept putting my seat forward when I was falling asleep and took my blanket off me when we were about 20 minutes away from arriving . She didn't do this to anyone else , don't get why she singled me out . At one point she was asleep on the floor behind my seat and kept kicking my seat on purpose . Was really weird and annoying , especially on such a long journey! Another thing to watch out for is to get to the bus stop a good 10-15 mind before as ours left early.

The service left Bangkok 30 minutes late but arrived on time. The bus was clean and well maintained and the staff were pleasant. The driver drove safely. Seats were comfortable. I have no complaints and would use this service again.

Everything was good except I paid for VIP and it was the same as the non VIP section of the bus.

Some of these other reviews crack me up. Like these fools were expecting some kind of livery service. This is a cross country bus in In Thailand! Its a lot better than some busses in other Asian countries but you need to keep your expectations low.

Its not your fault, but all bus was still coughing and doing some other disgusting noises. To be part of it and imagine like the strong arcondition circulate all those bacteries and microbs around me...terrible. But the bus was o.k.

Bus left on time and arrived early. The toilet was the most revolting toilet we have seen in Asia (after travelling extensively for 10 months)

Bus was not the way I thought. Seats were tight, the Bangkok terminal was not satisfactory. It was supposed to be a VIP bus, but well , far from it.

Doesn't worth the price, nor the VIP status. If you hesitate, definitely take the cheaper one. It is said that the meal is included while it is not the case. The seats are completely different from what is shown on the picture, the indicvividual USB power (to charge the phone) and the seats lights were not working so we couldn't charge our phones and they didn't care, nor apologize for it. The bus was already late before the beginning and we got in Chiang Mai with a delay of more than 2 hours. The person working in the bus was just rude and impolite and did not even try to answer the questions, just ditching people off. To conclude, I don't know why 12go.asia is charging such a price as the VIP bus does not exist on the company dash board where we checked in and the 1st class bus and service (which is more or less what you get) is more than 100Baths cheaper... Overall okay (just slept and the seats were the only okay thing in that bus) but far beyond the expectations when you book and pay a VIP bus service.

Perfect , enough space , friendly stuff ( they don't speak much English) But they try here best . We travel from Chiang mai to Bangkok . We had a to reach our plain to phangan. And they let us out just 15 minutes away from the airport.

We got free water and snacks as well as blankets before we set off. There was a lot of leg room and the seats reclined so we’re comfortable. The bus did arrive into Bangkok an hour and a half earlier than it was supposed to but overall a good journey

Arrived at destination an hour early- great stuff. Not much space, but that’s expected on a bus! Overall, would do again.

Everything was very nice except the fact, that the Aircon was kinda working to well, making us all stay in a "game-of-thrones-like climate"

Pretty comfortable. Was able to sleep quite a lot through the night unlike other services that turn on lights and things throughout the trip. Would use again

Barely able to communicate since the staff speak no English. The bathroom door was broken and kept opening all night to deliver a lovely smell to the lower deck.. At some point (I guess around 3 am - when all the passengers were sleeping) the driver allowed himself to turn off the air conditioning. The attendant argued with him about after my repeated requests, but nothing changed, I just moved to the upper deck, where the AC was still on. Actually got to Bangkok too early.. it's said around 7 am, and at 5 am you're just kind of stuck, waiting for the train, really tired. All I can say is that on the way to Chiang Mai it was the same price, a different company and a much better experience.

The trip was fine and I arrived at the destination before the expected time. Unfortunately the bus was 1 hour late to arrive at Morchit, so that affects my review. Otherwise, it was more than satisfactory.

Nobody of the staff was able to speak english, and it was really a problem to understand what they were saying, even the indications they gave us during the stop (how much time do we had etc). At the departure they didn't want us to get in because we had the e-ticket, and probably they didn't know how to read english, so they thought we didn't have the ticket.. Luckily there was a guy that explained us where was the company desk, we went there and the girl gave us the paper tickets. The blanket they gave us was really dirty and full of hairs. Too expensive for the service they give!

Bus continually stopped. Once so the driver could go to get some street food. A gang of youths was let on about 20 minuets into the joirney and were hid at the deont and back of the coach (not on seats, on the floor) then the driver stopped at 3 random locations at the side of the road to let them off. Felt very unsafe

Seats very comfortable, bus kept dark and very quiet all night. We left about 50 minutes late and stopped a few times for unknown reasons which was a bit annoying but overall a much better experience than I was expecting.

As a foreigner, you need to be prepared for hypercrowded station where no one speaks English and is not easy to find where to get your tickets from. The bus was not at the gate shown on the ticket but we were lucky enough to catch it anyway (just asking to other passengers around us). The trip was fairly comfortable, although air conditioning was very cold and the bathroom was disgusting and therefore unapproachable.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with the experience. The bus left an hour and a half late and didn't place us on the bus we had paid for. We paid for the nicer bus, and this older one broke down in the middle of the night and stayed on the side of the road for at least 3 hours. We arrived very late to Chiang Mai, so now I can't get the transfer bus from there I wanted. I would greatly appreciate a reimbursement for this. Please let me know.

Very disorganized and didn’t have a systematic way of getting people to their seats. I was sitting near the toilet and it smelt absolutely awful!! Not to mention the bright blue light above the toilet that was shining in everyones’ eyes. Seats were very close together - when the person went to recline they were basically on top of my legs! We were also seated near where they were storing all the bottles of water which resulted in lots of squeaking noises. Didn’t stop once the whole bus ride for a break to stretch legs or use a toilet that wasn’t disgusting. Only plus was we got in 2 hours early.

Efficient service even with the language barrier. Clean bus although I was sat downstairs and the smell from the toilet wasn't pleasant. The window seat I booked got changed and my seat did not recline fully due to the stairs behind me. However, would definitely recommend this route from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

Surprisingly simple to exchange tickets, navigate the station and find the bus, which itself was very modern - great reclining seats and modifiable air con (a luxury compares to other buses in SE Asia) Got some sleep and got to Chiang Mai on time too
