Places to eat in Nha Trang

You'll never be short of options for dinner in Nha Trang, there's tasty meals to be had for all budgets and diets. Seafood is particularly well regarded here and you'll find some of the best fish and seafood restaurants in the country. Here are some of the best places around the city.

Vietnamese Food

On of the best restaurants in Nha Trang for those on a budget is Lanterns Vietnamese Restaurant (34/6 Nguyen Thien Thuat, open 7am11pm). Located right in the centre of the city, this atmospheric restaurant serves excellent, authentic Vietnamese food as well as cheap drinks (beer costs around VND18,000). The coconut chicken is a very popular choice, it arrives served inside a coconut and is great value at VND100,000, but there's also plenty of veggie options. This place can get busy so it might be worth getting there for a late lunch or an early dinner to beat the crowds.

Not only is the food sensational, they also support local orphanages and offer work experience to local children. They also offer a cooking class priced at USD24 per person where you'll head to a local market to buy ingredients and learn how to cook your favourite meals.

Alpaca Homestyle Café (60B Hung Vuong, open from 08.00 – 21.00) is quite simply one of the city's best restaurants. Although more expensive than some others, the food and atmosphere has earned rave reviews. It's a tiny restaurant so try to avoid peak times to ensure you get in! You can expect to pay around USD20 for a meal for two, without drinks. They even have vegan-friendly options, which are not always that easy to find in Vietnam!

Western & International Food

Everyone loves pizza and this place serves the best in town! Head to S & K Pizza (47/1 Le Thanh Ton, open 1pm–10.30pm) for cheap pizza from around VND15,000. Pizza lovers flock here again and again to get their fix. As a bonus, the Russian owner gives out free vodka shots with the bill.

Pita GR Restaurant (7G/3 Hung Vuong, opening hours 8am–11pm) is a well-priced Greek restaurant that vegetarians, in particular, will love. The veggie platter is brilliant and other main meals are available from around VND70,000. Beer is great value as well from VND17,000.

Slightly out of town on Bai Dai beach, lies The Shack (21km from the city, open from 9am–9pm). This relaxed beach bar is well worth the journey out of Nha Trang, offering western dishes as well as excellent seafood. There's also a surf school so you can spend the whole day here. They can even arrange scuba diving trips for you before you go back and relax in the bar with a cold beer.

Seafood

Due to Nha Trang's popularity with foreign tourists, there's a whole host of more expensive restaurants that you can indulge in. Kiwami (136 Bach Dang) is one of the city's best. If your budget allows, this restaurant is a must for seafood lovers. You can get some of the best sushi in Vietnam here, although it may be relatively pricey, you won't regret it. Set lunch is available from VND145,000.

You'll notice very quickly that the people of Nha Trang take great pride in the quality of their seafood dishes. It's well worth treating yourself to a slap-up seafood meal whilst in the city. Story Beach Club and Restaurant (B4 Tran Phu, open from 7am–12am), is one of the best seafood restaurants in town, there's usually a BBQ going with tables looking out onto the beach. It's a beautiful setting with fresh fish and seafood to match. Mains are from around VND120,000.

Another great choice for seafood lovers is Costa Seafood Restaurant (32-34 Tran Phu). It's a very grand restaurant in the 5 star Intercontinental hotel, particularly popular with Chinese tourists as they offer many Chinese specialities as well as all of the usual seafood dishes you'd hope for. Mains start around VND150,000.
