About Pacific Express

Company Information

Pacific Bus Express is a large bus liner company. They have busses that carry between 27 and 30 travellers. The company is based in Kuala Lumpur, making it their priority to offer express busses between the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) and Singapore.

Routes served by Pacific Express

From Kuala Lumpur around Malaysia

The majority of routes the company offers depart from Kuala Lumpur. Several connections to spots all over the country are offered. A ride through to Butterworth leaves at half past the hour for every hour between 8.00 am and 10.00 pm. As many as 14 departures a day leave the TBS terminal in Kuala Lumpur. The trip will set you back MYR 40.

There are busses through to Ipoh, Johor Bahru, and Sungai Nibong costing between MYR20 and MYR 55. The routes have busses leaving every hour that start at around 8.00 am with the last one heading off at 10.00 pm.

Kuala Lumpur–Singapore

Among the most popular of routes is that which runs through to Singapore. With 17 daily busses, from 7.30 am to 10.00 pm, you're sure to find one at your convenience. The bus is intended to arrive at Golden Mile Complex and will take a good 7-8 hours once all is said and done.

The busses are cheap - there is no denying it. They are often a good MYR 10 cheaper than the otherwise priced alternatives. However, this must come at a price.

Pros

The company offers quite comfortable buses kept in good conditions.

With regular departures throughout the day both between the destinations within Malaysia and to Singapore it is easy to catch a bus without the need to wait for a long time.

The Pacific Express offers cheaper bus tickets compared to many of their competitors what means that while you will find yourself saving a few ringgit with the slightly lower fares you will probably have to sacrifice in other areas.

Cons

The majority of drivers do not speak English so if you have any issues during your trip it could be a tough task to explain what you want.

Though the company prides themselves on being extremely punctual delays are common though it is not the issue characteristic only for Pacific Express.

Travellers reviews

Travellers complain that the lack of punctuality presents a massive issue for those on a deadline or those who really just can't do another hour of it all. Note though that the majority of these reviews refer to international trips and the bus company cannot be blamed for delays at the border crossings.

Due to very limited English spoken by the staff, some travellers are not satisfies with the service of on-board personnel.

While it is important to remember that people can have bad experiences at any company, and that negative reviews are somewhat subjective, some reviews online show that people have had a really tough time with this company. Complaints about the maintenance of the busses are prevalent. Breakdowns and leaking air cons are regularly cited as problems. It appears that the company's fleet is not sufficiently cared for.

A tough thing to deal with while on these trips is the sensation of decreasing space as your journey progresses. This sensation is only exacerbated by having less space to begin worth. The company has been reported to have an additional row of seats in their 27 seater busses, allowing three more passengers aboard the bus. Be wary of liners that state they have '30 seater busses' and look to other options for your transport.

Lastly, the ticketing system of the company seems to be a little disorganised. With a couple of methods to book tickets and multiple destinations from which to do so, seats are sometimes double-booked with one passenger left standing and a little helpless.

Pacific Express Company Reviews

I don't really recommend this company if you have a better option. There was not enough room for all the bags so everybody tripped and had to step over my backpack and it got really dirty. Also, the AC was very weak, so it was hot all the way to Kampot. They also gave us a 250ml water bottle, which is a funny size... The driver was nice but he only told the Cambodian people we are stopping for a few minutes, so we had to guess every time.

Very good driving and not a slob at the wheel. The horn was not operated very often and he drove much more relaxed than other buses we had used so far. We could also get off earlier in Phnom Phen because the way was then shorter for us to the airport.

Travel was great :) Arrival 15 minutes early. On the travel voucher the image and the Adress inc. the GPS Coordinates did not point to the same starting location. Image = Old Office, Address and GPS Coordinates = New Office. If you are waiting at the old location wait for another 30 minutes and you will be picked up as well :).

The trip itself was good but the location of the bus station in Kampot was incorrect on the ticket. If not for a helpful tuktuk driver we would've been very lost.

Left on time, arrived on time. Plenty of space, a couple of short stops, and a functioning air-con.

The trip took longer because of festivities on the way (not companies fault), it was very hot (not companies fault), the aircon did not work and everyone was sweating like in a sauna (van was overheating). The driver was trying his best, but everybody was reliefed when it was over.
