About Golden Coach Express

Company information

Golden Coach Express have earned themselves a name of distinct reputability throughout their years in the transport industry. The company has provided reliable service to customers for around a decade, resulting in customers so loyal that they share smiles and short stories with the attendants at the company’s desk.

Routes served by Golden Coach Express

The company is extremely well connected, and holds a strong presence throughout Singapore and Malaysia. The company has offices in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Ipoh, Lumut and Teluk Intan. Online, one can not only ascertain information regarding bus schedules and contact details, but can also make bookings and receive paperless confirmation of such – perfect for anyone who can’t easily get to the bus station.

To/from KLIA and KLIA2

A sign of the company’s success within the Singaporean and Malaysian markets is the scarcity of available seats from as much as six weeks prior to the departure date. Indeed, the bus company has secured a strong stake in the market. This strong reputation is, in part, due to the efficient express service that they run between Kuala Lumpur and the KLIA airports. Being a tremendously well-worn route, their strong performance in this area has won the trust of wary travellers and busy businessman.

Golden Coach Express is very well known for the route from Singapore through to the airports in Malaysia, KLIA 1 and KLIA 2. The company offers a direct, express bus between the two locations, vastly improving the amount of money and time spent by the customer when considering airfare, and train travel.

The company offers a very convenient departure point for those not based within the Southern spheres of Singapore. Those located on the East of the country can now begin their route from a point outside the Holiday Inn at the Concorde Shopping Centre. Alternatively, there is another pick-up point at the City Plaza. The bus leaves three times a day, at 9.00am, 1.15pm, 11.59pm. A ticket will set you back around MYR 100 and will see you to your desired destination in around 8 hours. This is including maximum time you will spend at the border. This location is also a fantastic place to finish the journey coming from KLIA as there is the Paya Lebar MRT station just a five minute walk away. Several lines can be joined from this station.

Other routes from Singapore to Malaysia

Another popular route of Golden Coach Express goes between Seramban and Singapore. The route goes via Melaka, which, for any foodie or culture junkie, will be a challenge not get off at. The entire route takes around 5 and a half hours to complete, and will set you back MYR 60.

The company also offers busses through to Ipoh and Port Dickson, which are some fantastic stops for the tourist along the South Western Peninsular. Less than five hours away from Singapore, and even shorter than that from Kuala Lumpur, there is very little reason to not make these trips. Check their website for availability, and get on that bus!

Pros

Any traveller who has done their fair share of bus trips across unfamiliar lands next to unfamiliar people will attest to the value of a comfortable, clean bus.

Having been on the scene but a short ten years, the Golden Coach fleet is young, and in great condition.

The busses have 27 seats, which leave ample legroom for even the largest of Western customers.

Often the busses will come with power outlets and on board Wi-Fi. This, above it all, is a key ingredient in maintaining levels of sanity after one too many hours sitting in one place, looking at one thing.

Cons

There is very little downside to the services offered from the company. However, as is with anything in life, there is good and bad in everything. This being said, there is always the possibility of getting a slightly unforgiving and marginally rude bus driver.

Keep in mind

If you are planning on going across the border with Golden Coach Express, then it is worth remembering that company’s bus drivers are instructed to wait for no longer than forty minutes at the border crossing. If you are a traveller and happen to hold an unfavourable passport, the process at the border can go on a lot longer than this. Should this be the case for you, it may well be worth booking a bus that will have you arrive at the border with several Golden Coach Express busses trailing behind. This way, should it come to that, you can try and hop onto one of these after yours has left you behind!

Travellers’ reviews

Travellers have said that it is not the easiest thing to find the point of departure at the Plaza in Singapore. There is no signage or any personnel of the company around. Be prepared to look a lot, and be patient. Having read this article will have already helped you, though!
