What are the Bus Classes & Prices of CTM?
The price of your bus trip will depend both on the destination and the class of your ticket. Note that not all ticket classes are available on certain routes yet for longer trips there is almost always a good choice of options. Opt for a sleeper coach for the most convenient overnight trip. Sleeper buses are usually equipped with berths or soft reclining seats, feature an onboard toilet and your ticket may also include other perks like snacks or even a lunch. Taking a night bus is also a good idea if you want to save on your hotel room. During the day an express service is often the best value for money as it makes less stops than an ordinary or standard class bus and travels faster. On some routes it may be crucial to choose the right class as, say, an ordinary or second class bus may need some 6 hours to cover the distance the first class or express bus travels in two hours!

Cons of Bus Travel

Intercity bus terminals can be located outside the city centre in the outskirts. It means you will need to calculate extra time and money to get there. In certain destinations getting from the bus terminal can cost you more than you would expect because only a limited number of transportation companies is allowed to serve the route – and prices may be inflated.

During busy weekends or high season buses serving some tourist destinations may run out of schedule and require advanced booking.

While buses are not as weather dependent as ferries, bus trips can also be delayed or cancelled due to bad weather or road conditions – keep it in mind if travelling during certain seasons or to certain destinations.

The service station they stop at for a comfort break also has a good shop and bakery. Pretty much as fast and comfortable as when we had a private car the last time we travelled this way.

There is a 20 minutes break after 1,5 hour drive. Some people were dropped before Agadir, eg at Taghazout.

I booked the COMFORT bus with black seats as shown on the picture with more space and a higher price. But I was put on the normal bus. That was a bit dissatisfying and disappointing. Thomas WThe Main Issue I have is Safety
The second Bus Driver he is a chain smoker.
He was smoking before we left Essouira, in the break and as soon as we arrived at Agadir.
During the trip he was coughing every minute. It was a smokers cough. That was very annoying hearing that all the way.
I am 100% sure his health was terrible he could very easily have a heart attack or a stroke while driving. I do not know his age but he looked old and sick. The other Bus Driver looked Healthy and young.
Smokers die about 10 years younger often with a stroke or heart attack.
The Road is dangerous and with a heart attack or a stroke the bus could crash and in the wrong place everyone could die on that road.
Pilots of aeroplanes have strict health rules and are not allowed to pilot with any circulatory issues.
Plus there are other safety measures on a plane a co-pilot and auto-pilot.
But if the gentleman has a stroke or heart attack, 1 second is all it takes at the wrong place and everyone dies. This will happen it is a statistical probability.
I was shocked that CTM would allow someone so obviously unhealthy to be responsible for so many lives.
I would say CTM should not employ a chain smoker anywhere near the age of that person.

They didn’t tell me that for luggage in the belly of the bus you had to get a ticket and pay 5 MAD extra. But you get a ticket with a number and it’s safe. There are seat belts. You get an assigned seat. The earlier you book the chances are higher to get a seat in the front. Between Marrakesh and Agadir they have a 15 minute break. You can buy something to eat ( food is expensive!) or go to the bathroom. When you get there, there are red taxis. You have to negotiate the price. I paid 50 MAD to go to a hotel in Founty near the beach.

Amanda AI booked for the 13:15 bus not realising that the time had changed - there was a different time on the pdf ticket - so when we got to the bus station we had missed our bus. We then had to pay for another ticket on a slower bus which was incredibly uncomfortable and slower. We didn’t arrive into Essaouira until 22:45, very tired and hungry. I wouldn’t recommend this journey if travelling from another destination also earlier in the day!
