Maria DI booked a transfer in a van from our hotel at Sharm el Sheik to Cairo's international airport. It was published to be a 4 hour drive. I was going to book the 6 am departure but my husband said it would be too many hours waiting at the airport since it was suppossed to be a 4 hour drive and our flight was leaving at 4.30 pm, so I booked the 8 am departure planning to arrive there at noon. 4.30 hours before the flight gave us enough room for mistakes.. I wasn't counting on the type of mistakes.. I got an email from Bookaway saying that the pick up place was at the airport being that I booked it from our hotel. I woke up super early to call and make sure where the pick up place was. It took very long for the driver to answer. He finally did, I woke him up.. Mohamed the driver, said he would be there at 8 am. As they asked, we were at the lobby at 7.45 am. He arrived at 8.17 in a Kia Forte. Not in a van. The trunk had his stuff! Amjad from Bookaway told me that if I wanted I could do an upgrade for it to be faster! That he sent a luxury car for us only!!! A Kia Forte is a not a big car. It tool Mohamed, with the help of the people from the hotel, more than 20 minutes to put all our stuff in. We had 3 bags each plus the carry ons and our personal item. The allowance was 2 pieces of luggage per person.. these weren't even 6 big pieces... they put bags in the back seats as well. I couldn't even move!!!!!!! My son who is 1.80 meters couldn't even move either!!!!!!! We didn't even had room to put our feet... at that point I was super worried because everyone at the hotel told us that the drive to Cairo was not a 4 hour drive as they posted... we left the hotel at around 8.45. After leaving, the driver stopped to put gas! Another 10 minute waste of time..we started driving to Cairo
After around half an hour drive we were stopped at a security point in the highway. They sent us back to Sharm el Sheik's airport because we were missing a visa. That had nothing to do with Bookaway.. It was very stressful. Mohamed was very nice. We lost about 1.30 hours getting it. We finaly started driving to Cairo again. He stopped to put gas again, this time he bought a coffee and took his time to drink it.. We were at the gas station for not less than 20 minutes! I was almost hyperventilating! The trip took almost 7.30 hours. We got off the car at the airport at 4.09... the plane was about to leave...unfortunately we missed our flight... 😞
When I told Ahmad from Bookaway this, he said that it was because of all the time we lost because of the visa. I told him I knew that issue was our fault, but even with the time we lost on that, we would still have had time to arrive if the trip would have really been a 4 hour drive as published. As I told him, first If I'd only knew it was a 6 hours drive, I would have booked the 6 am trip as I originally was going to.. then the driver should have arrived on time with the car full of gas and without stuff in the trunk! We missed our flight, we missed the tour of the hot air balloon in Karnak, this was my dream! I missed it!!! 😩 we had reservations at a hotel in Luxor as well!! Everything was messed up! We had to pay for a hotel in Cairo for that night, also had to pay the charge for changing our flight for next day. Amjad said that it was all because of the visa. I told him that even with the time we lost there, we would have arrived on time if the information would have been accurate! 4 hours instead of 6, If the driver would have arrived on time, if we didn't have 2 stops, one of them more than for gas, for a coffee for the driver... we would have perfectly arrived on time for our flight..
Mohamed the driver was very nice. We payed him extra money for the visa problem.

Timothy DAbove expectation for a local bus. Obviously old and a bit run down. But the aircon worked and was a smooth journey and streamlined through all the stops. Said it would be 8 hours and ended up being 6 and a half. Vehicle had a bathroom but did not use it.
