Ovisno o duljini Vašeg putovanja i Bašim željama, možete odabrati kartu prvog ili drugog razreda u vagonu za noćenje ili se odlučiti za tvrdo ili meko sjedalo, ako je dostupno. Imajte na umu da izbor klasa karata ovisi i o ruti i o duljini Vašeg putovanja. U osnovi, Vaš vlak može imati ležajeve prve klase, ali nećete moći rezervirati jedan ako se vozite samo kratku dvosatnu vožnju. Dok je putovanje željeznicom očito sporije od zračnog putovanja, željezničke stanice se često nalaze u centru grada, što Vam štedi puno vremena da stignete do/od tamo, dok su zračne luke gotovo uvijek prilično udaljene od grada
Noćno putovanje omogućuje Vam uštedu na hotelskoj sobi i istovremeno dobro spavanje – suprotno noćnom autobusu, gdje je čak i klasa spavanja veliki kompromis

Za dulja putovanja vožnja vlakom definitivno oduzima više vremena od putovanja zrakoplovom.
Vlakovi voze prema rasporedu, ali zakašnjenje nije neuobičajeno za putovanja vlakom – a kašnjenja mogu biti ogromna, pa ako planirate vezu s Vašim letom, pažljivo provjerite vrijeme kada Vaš vlak stiže na stanicu i dvaput razmislite.
Čistoća je ponekad problem s kartama za drugi i treći razred, a također i s WC-om.
Ako vaš vlak puno staje, u nekim je slučajevima teško shvatiti kada treba sići, jer stajališta nisu uvijek jasno najavljena ili označena, osim na elektroničkom ekranu.

It's nice to take the train if u don't have a lot of baggage. I took 3 class because it was the only available and it only have fans and open windows. I'll recommend if you are traveling with just a backpack otherwise no.

Train departed 15 minutes late, which meant a rushed connection into the Malaysian train system (which i didnt realise the time difference)
Our Bench was broken, my back and bottom were hurting and a random drunk Thai in front of us was pretty anoying. However it was an intressting experience and a great view. The open Windows alouwd us to lean outside and kept the train cool. All in All I loved still loved it especially for this price

The return trip was disappointing. I purchased a ticket in the 2nd class AC car but when boarding the train, they made everyone go onto the 3rd class car and remain standing for most of the trip. This was very unexpected. I think I should be refunded the difference. What happened? Why was I not allowed to sit in the seat I purchased? I’ve never had this happen on a train before.

My arrival time was delayed in 1h (chiang Mai to bkk 15h30) which made me lost my transfer to another city. Furthermore, no plugs on 2nd class and bathroom really bad. However, the landscapes alone the way are really beautiful and are worth it! My bad review is because I was so much affected by the delay arrival time.

On time. Comfortable temperature (air con with fans). Electric outlets in the first and last seats if you need to charge up. Squat toilets only is the biggest downside.

On the booking it's says we arrive at 7 am so had only 3 hours to wait. Turns out we arrived a 3 am. Which give us 7hours to wait outside. If we knew we would have took an hotel.
It was easy to purchase the train tickets to Ayutthaya. Once i paid for them, I immediately received an email confirmation with the e-ticket, which i used on my phone. It was very convenient.

Taking the overnight train is something I will do again !
Pros :
- the bathroom is very small, like in the plane, but clean.
- the blankets they give are very clean and the cover keeps warm during the night
Cons :
- There is no free food served, but you can order some, although I recommend bringing your own
- The light stays on all night
- The AC is really strong, bring a jacket
Anyways, don't hesitate !
Not super… Last carriage in 3rd class would say best one of all - beautiful view out the back of the sunset and nice to be so close to fresh air! Still would heavily recommend not booking 3rd class honestly seats are uncomfortable and CRAMPED! But if you book last min like I did and have no option, maybe get some gummies to help you through….

2nd class sleeper was fine. The compartment is cool and relatively comfortable. I couldn’t get an accurate read on when we would arrive based on the Thai train timetable and what was listed on my ticket. I couldn’t tell if 12go had the wrong arrival time and/or we were late. But I got where I needed to go.

The seat I booked was in the second class sleeper with a/c carriage. My recollection is that there were around 20 bunk beds in the carriage, 10 to each side of the central passage way. The carriage was close to full from what I could tell. So there were about 40 passengers in 20 bunk beds crammed into the confined space of one carriage. Given that being physically so close to strangers while one is asleep would not be something most Western people would be comfortable with, most of the passengers were Thai - a country that is notable for its large human population relative to its small geographical size. So, in other words - Thais are more accustomed to being in close physical proximity to strangers - and as such, the idea of being asleep while physically close to 39 strangers in a confined space is not a problem. I noticed a few Western backpackers in the carriage who are similar in their attitude to the Thais. But their acceptance of the situation is due to financial constraints rather than cultural norms. I think I was the only middle class Westerner in the carriage. Apart from the Western backpackers, I don't think travelling long distance on a train carriage of this type of carriage would hold much appeal for the average Westerner. But for Thais and backpackers it is viewed as acceptable. As for me personally, I guess the experience was okay because I knew in advance that I had no intention of going to sleep. I was actually content to just use half my bunk as storage space for my luggage, and the other half of the bunk I transformed into as a make-shift chair was turned out to be actually quite comfortable after I spent a little time upon boarding arranging the pillow and blanket provided in a careful way on top of the quite reasonable quality mattress. In summary, the experience for me was fine. And I would happily do it again. But to reiterate, I think it is probably most suitable for Thais and Western backpackers.

Absolutely Brilliant . The new station at Bang Sue is vast. And Spotless. My train left at 15.10 and arrived at 18.44 in Hua Hin as scheduled to the minute.
The new station at Hua Hin was similarly impressive.
Every passenger had a seat , which turns into a bed , later in the journey. All for about 300 Baht.
It really shows how the UKs transport system fails in comparison really.

It was great to see the country side on our way to Chiang Mai. My son liked it so much he took the train back to Bangkok. If you get the overnight train try to get a sleeper car, the normal car was a little rough to sleep in.

When taking the night train you can’t expect to get an amazing night of sleep, but the views in the morning and the overall experience definitely make up for it. Would recommend any time, despite the slight discomfort. (Also incredibly cheap!)

The Service was really nice and helpful! The train was on time. The seats were okay! You have space and you’re able to lean back. We had second class seats. We would definitely recommend to book a sleeping place, because we couldn’t sleep at all. From Bangkok to Surat Thani we bearly slept. The bright lights are on all night long! So that’s really tough. It’s really loud and In the night it can get cold. If you choose to take second class seats in a night train be prepared.

Missed our train due to traffic. Nobodys fault other than our own. Thankfully managed to catch the next train which left 15 minutes after. Only 40tbh per person 3rd class. Therefore it is much cheaper to buy directly from the station
