Bangkok Airways and Vietnam Airlines agree on codesharing

Bangkok Airways and Vietnam Airlines have signed a preferred partners agreement. The alliance gives travellers the option of booking through journeys on international and domestic connecting flights operated by each of the airlines.

The codesharing agreements apply to Bangkok Airways flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Koh Samui, Phuket, Krabi and Da Nang in Vietnam. They also are valid on routes from Bangkok to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City operated by Vietnam Airlines.

Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth is the boss of Bangkok Airways. He says the codeshare treaty will provide streamlined connections between the main travel hubs and tourism hotspots in both Vietnam and Thailand.

Duong Tri Thanh is Vietnam Airlines’ president and he was equally as keen to praise the new tie-up. He said passengers travelling from Vietnam to Bangkok would have a stress-free means of getting to destinations throughout Thailand.

12GO ASIA notes that Bangkok Airways now has more than 20 partner airlines with which similar codeshare agreements are in place. These include Thai Airways and Malaysia Airlines.
