Vietnam to offer double decker bus tours in major cities

A spokesperson for the Vietnamese prime-minister’s office has confirmed double-decker tour buses will soon be hitting the streets of the nation’s main cities. The representative explained prime-minister Nguyen Xuan Phu had concurred that this kind of bus was the way forward and would offer tourists sightseeing excursions in comfort.

Although no definite time scale has been decided on for the introduction of the London-style tourist buses, authorities in Da Nang have hinted it could be as soon as the New Year. Among the other six cities where sightseeing from the top deck of an open-top bus will likely be introduced are Hue, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Tran Chi Cuong is the assistant director of Da Nang’s tourism bureau and he said the proposal to launch this genre of tour had been in the pipeline for quite some time. He added that the double-decker tours would cover all the main attractions.
