Even though we originally booked 2 lower births in a cabin. After a couple of stops the guard insisted that I moved to the upper birth to allow a lady to have the lower one. But the upper birth was comfortable once I had managed to get up there. The guard knocked on the door to let us know that our station was next and directed us to our exit.
The 4 berth on Livi is not as good as the 2 berth on Vietnam rail. Random people come in and out for different stops and the cabin door is a bit loose rattling on every move. The Livi operator just came and disappeared. No wifi available
Nothing like VIP … the place is just basic, not clean. The staff at the station was not aware of this kind of reservation. After 15 minutes and calling someone they gave me a ticket with a different coach number … don’t expect much… if you want a VIP treatment, book a premium car not the train!
The Staff are very helpful, my friend and I had the 4x vip sleeper to ourselves which made things a lot more comfortable! We both slept on and off, you kind of get use to the swaying and stopping and starting motion, it’s a little noisy so take ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper
Bathrooms were disgusting, my cabin was nice and clean, but one woman was complaining of roaches in hers. It was an ok experience. Train was bumpy so was unable to get a good nights rest, but it could have been worse.
Het was niet duidelijk dat ik een man moest zoeken die mij het trein kaartje zou geven. Zeer onduidelijk!! De man was ook niet te herkennen, gewoon paars T-shirt. Met toeval op het laatste moment gevonden. Zeer stressvol
We travelled with Livitrans and on the voucher, there was written that the paper itself is a boarding pass. But the staff did not let us in. Luckily, we asked a lady in the near bistro (she was surprised as we were) and she called someone else who came with our tickets. It was one big chaos! The staff in the trained asked us if we want tea or coffee in the morning, but in the morning, they wanted us to pay for it. For comparison - from Hanoi to Lao Cai, we used Fanxipan Express and the morning refreshment was for free, beds were longer and air condition was fine. Air condition in Livitrans was really cold - people sleeping downstairs had to sleep in jackets and hats!
We had a voucher four four people in a 4 person VIP sleeper. I went to the station the day before to try to get the actual tickets with cabin numbers but was told to return a half an hour before the train. We arrived an hour before and were told to wait and then someone ushered us through to the train with just the voucher. He was a helpful employee with no English but he got us to our cabin. The cabin looked fine but the teenage girls with us were freaked out by three different bugs going up the wall. Air con was nice and cold. It is great to leave from city centre in HCMC and arrive into the city centre of Nha Trang. We didn't see much scenery because we went overnight but previously enjoyed good views on longer routes. The toilets were very basic but functional.
I had a very nice trip on the train. The cabin was very clean and the attention was great. Very comfortable with AC. We left and arrived perfectly on time. Very good experience!

VIP x 4 sleeper was not as expected. Reasonably clean however loads of bugs everywhere including small cockroaches. 2 free bottles of water but no snacks. Mixed male and female and train ran almost an hour late. My standards were never high to begin with but this was slightly lower than expected. Also train does not just stop at Da Nang but multiple stops. Ensure to ask when you are arriving at your destination and set an alarm to wake you up around that time. It would be easy to miss your stop.
Not sure if the fault here lies with 12goasia or livitrans. As per many other reviews on tripadvisor this did not seem to be a livitrans service but a standard vnr train. Whilst I’m not bothered by this and the train was fine it was not as advertised and the communication about how to pick up tickets was awful. Just so people know you exchange the voucher at the desk in Da Nang station for your tickets...
As with other reviews, there was no Livitrans ticket place at HCMC. We had to ask platform staff for help. Carriage nothing like pictures and no different from standard despite paying extra. Small bottle of water and a face wipe was all that was provided. AC worked. Bring earplugs!
Journey was pleasant and train ran roughly to time. The only issue was boarding the train. Despite our printout from 12go stating go straight to coach 11 and the staff at the Livitrans desk in Hue station also saying go straight to train, we were nearly refused boarding due to the on board staff not understanding our ticket. We were allowed on and after around 10minutes the Livitrans rep on board ushered us to coach 9 and gave us our actual ticket. This actual ticket did not match the berth we were in or our passport numbers
Compartment was simple but had sheets and covers, complimentary soft drinks and some biscuits. We boarded at Dong Hoi ( not Hue) but that went smoothly. Thanks GoAsia you have been so helpful with all our Vietnamese travel bookings. Highly recommended

Cabins weren’t particularly clean and the toilets were horrible, although you could walk to other companies carriages and use the toilets
They either overbooked the train or had people in rooms they were not supposed to be in because there was not a room for us originally. It took some time to get worked out. Very noisy train.
What I expected,the train was ok very rough sheets, annoyingannouncements quite late at night. But the biggest and most avoidable problem is the voucher instructions very stressful people boarding train and you cant exchange ticket.a agent arrives kiar before but we did not know that was going to happen.
When I did the booking, I hadn't realised that I would receive only a voucher (without seat reservations) to change into a ticket at the train station, so when we arrived at Nha Trang, I was told at the desk to come back again 30 minutes before departure of the train. But since I didn't want to take the risk to end up with the upper benches in the compartment, I went to a different desk, and the staff noted the seat reservation in ballpoint pen on my voucher. When I returned 30 minutes before departure, I was given a scanning printout, so everything was fine in the end, if not a bit inconvenient. According to the display panel the train should leave from platform 2, but everybody told us to wait on platform 1. When the train arrived finally, we all crossed the tracks to board the train from the "wrong" side - a new experience. The compartment was okay (no cockroaches), but due to the air conditioning extremely cold in the upper benches (it must have been like 18 degrees Celsius). In the night the air conditioning stopped from time to time, so it was more bearable. In the morning there was an announcement via loudspeakers and by the conductor also to get ready for arrival at Da Nang. It was a good experience and I slept well during the night.
