Public gets chance of riding debut Bangkok Purple Line trains

The operators of Bangkok’s new urban train line are offering residents and tourists the opportunity of taking a free ride. Tickets for the three live MRT trial journeys on the Purple Line will be available from selected stations this coming Sunday between 09:00 and 15:00.

The three trial run days have been scheduled for Monday 13, Wednesday 15 and Friday 17, June 2016. The tests will take place between 07:00 and 09:00 on each of the three days.

Bangkok MRT has posted details about how to obtain tickets on its Facebook webpage.  One applicant is able to apply for up to three tickets and each ticket is valid for two passengers. The tickets only allow entry at three stations.

The three stations are Khlong Bang Phai, Yeak Nonthaburi and Tao Pun. The first and last of the three are the two termini. The Purple Line is due to open to the paying public on Queen Sirikit’s birthday on 12 August.
