UK Premier Inn to open premises on Phuket Island

The UK’s Premier Inn group has announced it is to open a new hotel on the southern Thai island of Phuket. The establishment is near Patong and will feature 350 guestrooms plus facilities such as a swimming pool, a gym, a bar and restaurant, and conference suites.

Premier Asia Pacific vice-president Erik van Keulen stated that the Patong premises would be a welcome addition to the group’s regional portfolio and signify its commitment to offering more global choices for customers. He noted that the Premier Inn Phuket would raise the benchmark for hospitality standards on the island and cater to the needs of savvy travellers.

The Premier Inn Phuket is scheduled to welcome its first guests during the first quarter of 2017. It will be a sister property to the Premier Inn Bangkok which has slated its soft-opening for the middle of next year. This establishment is located in the downtown district and will have 224 rooms.

Premier has already stated it is interested in opening properties at the Thai beach destinations of Pattaya, Hua Hin and Koh Samui in addition to the northern city of Chiang Mai. The Premier Inn group is the hotelier equivalent of a low-cost airline. In the UK, Premier has garnered loyal customers with its concept of providing quality rooms at rock-bottom nightly rates.
