Unfortunately, the train was over an hour late reaching Samarkand and we were over an hour late reaching Tashkent. I still don’t know why there was such a delay, no explanation provided, which is really poor.
The train journey itself was fine, comfortable, and the staff friendly, but, the damage had already been done with the train being so late.
It was ghastly. The train guard on the train demanded that we move to another compartment, and then demanded a lot of money for it. We shouldn't have given it to him, but the situation was very unpleasant (and he didn't exactly give us a receipt, so it was evident that he put the money in his own pocket). We will probably avoid taking the train in Uzbekistan in the future.
There was an old lady seated on my seat, she didn’t want to go back to her seat, and I was wanting the window to rest a little. We had language barrier to communicate, and she was a completely “zero notion” person, eating bad smelling food inside a bus. I was expecting the bus was a more clean place, with rules (specially about eating inside), and I wish there was someone to make her seat on her place.

I thoroughly enjoyed this journey snd the people I met
We were very confused; we started out in one car, switched to another after 15 km, waited about 30 minutes, and ultimately completed the trip in the second vehicle. A well-intentioned person tried to explain the situation, but we still don't understand what happened. When booking, the agency's advertising shows a magnificent vehicle—nothing like the two cars we actually traveled in. We understand and sympathize with people trying to help others, but at one point, three different hitchhikers were picked up and got into the car. I feel the driver should have asked us whether or not that was acceptable to us.
