Thailand is celebrating the Buddhist New Year from April 13th to 15th and it is the biggest festival in the country. While celebrated in many places the center of all activities is in Chiang Mai. We will bring you there and make sure you will remember this time as one of the very best holidays in you life.
April 10th: One night in Bangkok
After arrival in Bangkok we will bring you from the airport to your hotel in the city center. Check in, relax or explore the "Big Mango". If you arrive early and want to spend some time in the pulsing heart of Thailand, where culture meets nightlife and sacred buildings blend with modern architecture we will help you to find unusual attractions or immerse yourself in local culture and cuisine, because there is so much to explore in this vibrant city beyond the Grand Palace or Wat Po. Sip some of the city’s best brews or find one of the modern huge shopping malls that Bangkok is famous for. In the evening we will invite you for dinner, inform you about the Do's and Dont's in Thailand and then bring you to one of the famous night markets where you can spread out, enjoy pubs with life music and try the famous streetfoot at night.
April 11th: Historical park of Ayutthaya
After breakfast we will bring you to Ayutthaya. You can explore the city and the historical park on your own and we will leave Auytthaya by 15h00. You will arrive back in Bangkok around 17h30, where we start the journey to Chiang Mai with the famous sleeper train #9.
April 12th: When the sun comes up
Enjoy a breathtaking view when the sun comes up in the mountains before the train calls in Chiang Mai at around 07h15. Local transportation will be organized in Song-Taews to your hotel near the Tha Phae Gate. Check in and get ready for a trip to one of the famous elephant camps, where you will see, touch, play and bathe with the gray giants. Sorry, no riding is provided in the ethical park. In the afternoon you will be brought back to your hotel and you can explore the city for the rest of the day. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around Tha Phae Gate.
April 13th - 15th: water, water, water and more water
The moment you step out from your hotel for the next 3 days you will be in the middle of the action. Make sure you only wear shoes and clothes that can get wet, because they will get soaking wet. Leave your camera at home, put you mobile phone, wallet and valuables in sealed plastic bags. The ladies are advised not to wear white shirts. You might want to gear up with a water gun and join the party that will last 3 days. When the sun sets, you can return to your room and slip into dry clothes.
During these days we recommend you arrange a trip to Wat Phra Tat Doi Suthep, the golden temple on the top of the mountain nearby or visit Bo Sang, the village where paper umbrellas are hand made and painted.
April 16th:
After all the celebrations we will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast. You need to check out and leave your luggage at the hotel. Then we will bring you to the rain forest. Here you will enjoy the wonderful experience of flying from one tree to another in the jungle. 35 stations are there to explore. Don't worry, it is safe and not too exhausting. You can not fall down. There will be a clear safety instruction before you start. The staff is very professional and blablabla.
In the late afternoon a van will bring your group back to your hotel where you pick up your luggage. In the evening it's back to Bangkok in the sleeper train.
April 17th
You arrive Bangkok in the morning. Now it is time to decide if you continue your travel on your own or with the new friends you made in Chiang Mai.
