Japanese film festival hits Thai cinema screens

The 2017 edition of the Japanese Film Festival kicked off on Saturday with a screening of the acclaimed In This Corner of the World. The Sunao Katabuchi directed WWII animated drama aired at Bangkok’s SF World Cinema.

The Japanese film extravaganza continued yesterday with six more screenings which included Sanada Ten Braves. The Mohican Comes Home and The Magnificent Nine will play this evening and tomorrow evening respectively at 19:00 at the same cinema.

The cinema will show one film a day until Friday. There are then six films on both Saturday and Sunday with start times for the first showing at 14:00. After Bangkok, the films will move on to Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen and Phuket.

In This Corner of the World is the opener in Chiang Mai on the 23 February at the MAYA SFX Cinema and the first of eight films to show over the long weekend. The Japanese Film Festival’s website has additional details of show times.
