He said the airports would be busy and passengers departing on flights should allow themselves plenty of time to check in and pass through security and immigration checkpoints. Arriving passengers are also expected to face delays due to the sheer volume of people and congestion at baggage carousels.
The AoT reported that aircraft movements would be almost 10 per cent up on the same week last year and would average 2,400 a day. Suvarnabhumi Airport, the principle air gateway to Bangkok and Thailand, will handle the lion’s share of the flights with around 1,000 per day.

The Airports of Thailand authority says it is expecting record numbers of passenger arrivals and departures over the New Year holidays. AoT president, Nitinai Sirismatthakarn noted that current estimates showed the six airports under its jurisdiction would handle 2.7 million passengers between today and 4 January 2017.
