Iconic Hue Perfume riverside avenue to become museum quarter

Council officers in Hue have revealed details of a plan which will see one of the Vietnamese city’s best-known streets transformed into a museum quarter. The street in question is Le Loi and if all the proposals get the green light there could be six or more museums along its length.

Le Loi runs parallel to the west bank of the Perfume River and is already home to Le Ba Dang Art Centre and Ho Chi Minh Museum. The plan calls for an upgrade of the Hue Culture Museum which will see it shifted a few blocks to Le Loi.

The Diem Phung Thi Sculpture Museum will be housed in what is currently the Hue Festival Centre while a tourism bureau facility will be given a new lease of life as an embroidery museum. Thua Thien-Hue provincial director Phan Tien Dung explained that some time in the future the Hue Museum of Fine Arts would also be installed in what is now Provincial Hall.

Due to the fact Hue Railway Station (Ga Hue) is located at the southern end of Le Loi, the street is the first glimpse of the city’s diverse delights for many arriving visitors. 12GO ASIA offers ticket reservations to Hue from locations including Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
